ang_soo_do_guy Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 i heard alot guys saying being fit for normal ppl is not same as being fighting fit in others words good stamina to last a fight good flexibility for kicks and so on and i was just wondering what excercises get you fighting and if anyone knows what exactly it means explain more in depth about fighting fit thanx alot "learning a martial art is like tuning a string instrument. tune the strings too hard and they will snap tune them too little and it will not play but tune it right and you will have music for a lifetime"-anonomous
WhiteBelt Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 Fighting fit: Plenty of power endurance Powerful strikes Inhuman isometric strength (grappling) Fairly flexible With a 'degree' in fighting Go join a boxing/muay thai gym, or just go and watch them train.

WhiteBelt Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 Most karate schools will not get you fighting fit. There are a few schools out there but they are less popular.

Jerry Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 You get fighting fit by fighting (sparring) alot. A lot of cardio training also helps al lot, because fighting fit is about having stamina and technique. Okay ang_soo_do_guy, you are making a very interesting statement here. I wish to differ, in my opinion, from what you say becuase a Karate dude (Red belt for what it is worth, I don't know how they work it) had the walls wiped with his gi by a yellow belt (yup second belt) kickboxer. I know this because it was me who showed the braggar that he might have great technique, but we have contact. The fight was stopped half way and he returned to the club years later with his second dan and I happened to be there in a joined training session. He got his butt whipped again. ang_soo_do_guy Posted October 21, 2004 Author Posted October 21, 2004 you make a good point there we train in tang soo do and kickboxing but our kicks such as roundhouse are practiced as in karate instead of a traditional kickboxers roundhouse this is to improve stamina and courage of fighting but also improving for karate. but like you said i know a guy wjo was green belt 2 tags and he got thrown down by a 9th gup because he did contact sports before karate.
