ang_soo_do_guy
i got a book called "karate beginnes to black belt" and it says about makiwara training they do and how to do it but it says i have to plan it in the ground and i was wondering if you can not just nail it like a boxing bag stand because my garden is solid concrete. also before i do this is it really effecive for conditioning thank you any advice greatly appricated "learning a martial art is like tuning a string instrument. tune the strings too hard and they will snap tune them too little and it will not play but tune it right and you will have music for a lifetime"-anonomous
Rotten Head Fok
Just make sure it's anchored well, lag bolts instead of nails. I have only use a makiwara for a few months while training in Shorin Ryu Karate. I'm all for conditioning and beleave it will help you. Work hard and Happy training Tang soo do guy! You must be stable and balanced in your foot work, if you have to use your martial knowledge in combat, your intent should be to win. If you do strike, you must release great power! The martial arts are easy to learn, but difficult to correct.
