Rich_2k3 Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 Personally, what is your best physically attribute? ie. what are you best at? Below are the exact definitions, obviously all of these together define fitness, and to be fit u need all of them but which is your most powerful attribute and how do u manipulate it to better urself as a fighter?: Strength- The maximum force you can exert. Speed- The ability to move all or part of the body quickly Agility- The ability to perform a series of explosive power movements in rapid succession in opposing directions. Power- The ability to exert maximum muscular contraction instantly in an explosive burst of movements. Flexability- The ability to achieve an extended range of motion without being impeded by excess tissue. Endurance- (This includes muscular and cardiovascular), therefore is a muscle's ability to perform a maximum contracture time after time, and also the heart's ability to deliver blood to working muscles and their ability to use it. Balance- the ability to control the body's position, either stationary or while moving. Coordination- The ability to integrate the above listed components so that effective movements are achieved. Also what do u think are the most important attributes for a martial artist? "When my enemy contracts I expand and when he expands I contract" - Bruce Lee
shotochem Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 I would honestly list myself as average on most things. I'm my own worst critic. My best attribute (aside of my overwhelming good looks and charm ), would be more mental. Where others excel in speed, flexibility and brilliance I tend to make up for in pure guts and determination. No opponent is too big, no obstacle is to large, whenever I set a goal I try to keep surpassing it. I love the challenge. Pain is only temporary, the memory of that pain lasts a lifetime.
Ironberg Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 I have to say flexibility. It comes before agility and precision (I suppose precision counts as coordination). I don't know too many males who can preform the full splits in all three directions. Yay for TKD! Jazzstorm Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 I would have to say flexibility. It comes fairly easy for me. The second is endurance. I've come to realize this by working with the younger students. They are huffing, puffing, and complaining long before me....lol. I'm working on the other attributes! As for a MAs,I would think a combination of all listed would be the ultimate goal. Kyo Sa Nim in KSWCertified Personal TrainerHealth and Business Consultant
daeinwolf Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 I am working on all of them. But if I had to say what my best natural attributes would be speed and balance. Next would be flexibility. What can I say, I was made for gymnastics. SiK---Joshua There are no limits.
White Warlock Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Since we're only talking 'physical' characteristics... Speed was my bag when i was younger, but as i've grown older, i've become a bit more well-rounded. Well, except for flexibility. More flexible than most, but a far cry from being able to take my toe to scratch the middle of my back. aefibird Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 Erm, I'd say I was completely average on all of them, but probably stamina/endurance is the thing I'm the best at out of that list. Hey, I'm working on all of them (expecially flexibility - I'm as naturally flexible as a brick ). "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." ramymensa Posted June 27, 2004 Posted June 27, 2004 I'm still working at all of them. I put agility, because it was a quality I've always had. I could put flexibility speed and endurance too. I'm in a continuous development and never pleased with myself World Shotokan Karate
