Rich67 Posted January 31, 2004 Posted January 31, 2004 I use mine primarily to develop power behind my techniques. I use it also to help my focus. I've put duct tape on it in strike areas to represent face, solar plexus, groin, etc. and try to hit the areas as the bag moves. I try to plow into the bag as hard as I can and rock it and move it as much as I can. It's a tough workout. I go all out on it for 5 minutes, take a break, 5 minutes again, take a 3 minute calisthenic break(pushups, dips, pullups), then hit it for 3 more minutes. Mixed Martial Artist

White_Tiger Posted February 2, 2004 Posted February 2, 2004 I like varying my heavy bag workout. Sometimes just working combinations, sometimes working for power, and sometimes for speed. It is a versatile workout apparatus. I find if I do the same thing all the time I get bored with it, so try mixing things up.
italian_guy Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 There are lots of ways you can use your heavy bag. My favorite is 3 (or 2 if you have not enaugh endurance) minute round 1 minute rest free sparring. It is a good idea to mark average groin (or belt) level and average face level with sticky tape.
BruceLee Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 ooh, that tape thing is a good idea. I enver thought about that. I just usually set the height to my own height, because mines a standing bag, and I just beat it and I go all out. helps me out when I'm pissed or stressed. The meaning of life... is to live.
cross Posted March 13, 2004 Posted March 13, 2004 For a good workout hit the bag fast until failure. By failure i mean until you cant strike it with good form any longer.
