Is Skipping a good way to keep fit?

Is it a good way to keep fit and what muscle groups does it work out? I know for boxers its essential to success.

yes i believe so...i am no expert but i think it works out the cardio and also builds some fast twitch fibres in your legs (quads and hamstrings...tiptoes so it probably develops the calf muscles too) so your footwork for kumite is greatly enhanced

yup...skipping is a great way to envelop stamina

Never think that Karate is practiced only in The Dojo. The entire world is a Dojo, and true Karate training takes place twenty-four hours a day.

Thats all i have been doing to prepare for my Black Belt Test. My cardo is Skipping and if u get into a good routine it works great and within a few months your fitness level will be brillant, But hint stick with it....

Do just do basic skipping or do u do any of that fancy stuff like "Cross overs", "Double Jumps" "Jog jumps", "Spotty dogs" etc?

I do cross over skip double jumping 360 degree skip double jump gymnasium skip all sorts of skip punching high skip punching low skip punching solar plex skip doulble block skip etc it goes on and on and so on.
