Martial_Artist Posted December 16, 2003 Posted December 16, 2003 Well? Oh, let's keep it to actual foods whether of this culture or another. For me there were several when living overseas. Dog. Pig brain. Chicken intestine. Pig Intestine. I think that's all I'll write. Come on guys, spill your beans....literally. blue26 Posted December 16, 2003 Posted December 16, 2003 I’m happy to say, nothing on that list, lol "Follow not in the footsteps of the masters, but rather seek what they sought."
Martial_Artist Posted December 17, 2003 Author Posted December 17, 2003 Well, if it's not on the list, then what was it? The POLL was a test question, but not meant to limit the scope of the answers acceptable in this thread. IF you have eaten a gross food from another culture please share it. rb Posted December 17, 2003 Posted December 17, 2003 Given no choice i'd say squid. I eat it faily often and it can be prepared many ways - steamed, deep fried, raw, sauteed etc. Also eat beef liver, intestine, kidney with no remorse. I'm not a big fan of lung due to the texture but it absorbs flavours nicely.I've eaten dog and pigs blood too. I've always wanted to try brain.
monkeygirl Posted December 17, 2003 Posted December 17, 2003 The only disgusting foods I've eaten are the ones I've made. None off the list, but when I was five, I delighted in eating a "special" sandwich... On one piece of white bread, place as many pickles as possible and cover with blue cheese salad dressing. Add another piece of bread and enjoy! Don't ask me why, but I ate that every day for quite a long time AND LOVED IT. I think my mother had to tell me to stop. Now, just the thought of it grosses me out. I used to have other "recipes" (more like messipes) but I can't remember them... 1st dan & Asst. italian_guy Posted December 17, 2003 Posted December 17, 2003 About fancy food I had Snake in china, Alligator in Florida. But the nicest fancy food I had is Porcupine meet. It is delicious.
Gloi Posted December 17, 2003 Posted December 17, 2003 I was in Spaina couple of weeks ago and was in a tapas bar. I pointed to one of the dishes and asked what it was and the barman said 'lamb'. I got it and it was like a crispy ball of wool , all this stuff wound araound a couple skewer of skewers. I realised when I looked at it more closely that it was crispy sheeps intestines done in garlic butter. It tasted absolutely delicious though. I don't think I'd have ordered though, it if I had known in advance what it was. The most disgusting thing I've ever nearly eaten though was a school dinner which had a manky plaster in it off somebody's finger.
