The Saint Posted December 16, 2003 Posted December 16, 2003 A nice light jog is great and then some stretching makes me feel great everymorning "Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to go to his class." Choi, Hong Hi ITF Founder
Shorinryu Sensei Posted December 17, 2003 Posted December 17, 2003 Any suggestions on breathing techniques, stretching, and morning exercises? Not the typical push-ups, strikes, blocks, etc. Thanks everyone. Since you didn't specify martial arts, I'd say that my favoirite stretch in the morning is just a good, all body stretch before, or just after you get out of bed. Accompanied with a good, long yawn of course! I love to hear the sounds of my back and knees popping first thing in the morning! As for best exercise, making love to my beautiful lady is always my first choice, and a distant 2nd would be running through a few of my favorite kata at medium intensity for about 5-10 minutes. It wakes me up and gets me going while I'm waiting for the coffee to get ready. My nightly prayer..."Please, just let me win that PowerBall Jackpot just once. I'll prove to you that it won't change me!"
Rich_2k3 Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 Get the book "dynamic strength" by "Harry wong", excellent muscle building exercies and some great warmups. "When my enemy contracts I expand and when he expands I contract" - Bruce Lee
Hoju Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 I just sit up in bed, take some deep breaths & stretch my wrists & ankles. The pressure points there get me through most of my day. I save the real exercising until later in the day.
angelica d Posted January 15, 2004 Posted January 15, 2004 EXERCISE? First thing in the morning??? It's strenuous enough for me just to get out of my nice cosy warm bed on the morning, let alone do anything else! No, I couldn't do any kind of exercise before 9am and even that would be pushing it!
