Injury are the name of the game in karate. The one that stands out most is my ribs and the muscle around them. They just do not seem to heal for me.

Getting fed up, any experiences of sudden loss of interest?
white owl replied to TokyoSuitsMe's topic in Karate
I have been in your shoes many times. I totally know what you are going through. It can be very frustrating, please do not give up if you really love it. Karate is also mental challenge, as you grow with it and learn harder techniques that you think you can not do or think you'll never get it. You will! With practice and time. Trust me. They words here is TIME and PRACTICE. -

I tend to look at the shoulder/chest area. When I look at the eyes I kind of loose the focus.

Very disturbing!!!

I see nothing wrong with it as long as when in the dojo the instructor keeps personal life with the student out of training. I know it is hard I have seen my sensei try to have a relationship with a student and it go bad but if you can keep it separated it might be okay.

Congrats armanox!!!!! -
Go for it! Like what is said above it is good way to test yourself and a fun way to meet other people that are interested in the same thing you are and a way to see other styles of karate. At the tournaments that I have been to the divisions are split up by age and belt ranks like 18 to 35, 35 to 45 and 45up. If you are worried about a green belt competing with a brown belt that usually does not happen. Just to ease your mind.

Kuma is that baking powder or baking soda? If I sweat it gets washed and hang dry it does not matter how little or how much. That's why I have more than one gi and I recommended it to every one. I can not stand it when people do not wash there gi and instead of a nice white they are yellow or gray and give I have not washed my gi in over a week and we have class 4 days a week and no air in the summer and they think it great. I think its gross. Sorry I had to vent.

In my past experience the parents usually give instructor a heads up when there child has difficulty's with comprehending stuff. I surprise there was nothing said. I am finding out lots and lots of Patience's which my son makes sure they are limited and constant repetition. Maybe assign him a partner to help him out and change that partner each day that he is there.

I watch last night Chuck Liddell with Dancing with the Stars. I loved him, the fact that he trying and giving a 100 percent. He is not the most graceful dancer but I seen worse on last season. But here is a clip of Dana White and Chucks bet; and here is a write up about it; http://www.examiner.com/x-22098-Knoxville-MMA-Examiner~y2009m9d22-Chuck-Liddell--Dancing-with-the-Stars http://mmajunkie.com/news/16257/dancing-with-the-stars-with-ufcs-chuck-liddell-debuts-tonight-on-abc.mma

Testing over time or testing on the day
white owl replied to DWx's topic in Share Your Testing, Grading, or Promotion
Actually for my dan testing my instructors did both over a few weeks which I did not realize it at the time. Then I had a 3 hour class for my final test. When my instructors test the kyu ranks they do a pretest before the real test. -
