my instructor had us hold a kick out while brushed our teeth at night, if u set it down, start brushing again. it helped me a lot

  6. i get this unexplaneable wrist pain every so often and i can't move it or put weight on it without intense pain, i usually end up taping it fairly tight and that helps. any ideas on what it could be?
  7. i lead with a front leg kick and follow up with hand techniques, and save the rear leg kick until im done with the hands and kick towards the head.

    Choosing Kata

ive always been judged on a well flowing form(not freezing up) and great energy and heart in the form. worked for me. idk?
  9. i guess ive been born with a natural ability to ground grapple, i can control my neighbor pretty well and hes a purple belt, i cant afford to start training tho, is there anything i can do at home to get better?
  10. thanks for the explination that helps a lot
  11. can someone give me a quick lesson on how to do the Kimura i can never get it.
  12. whats the proper way to do them is it and off axcess side kick with a hook to it or is it a sweeping motion with a hook to it?
  13. I wasn't thinking so much of assumptions bushido...more like keep an open mind about how things are done, and WHY they are done that way. The blocks will be similar, as will kicks and everything else...but different...for a reason. For examples, I've seen some TKD'ers do a high block where their forearm is parallel with the ground. For some/most Okinawan systems, the arm is at a 45 degree angle to the floor, not 90. Another is the chamber of the foot when kicking, and the execution of a roundhouse kick. Another is our rather unique "whip kick"...I've never seen another system do it. It's a bone breaker. I could do a long topic just on the differences, and reason for those differences, between the Okinawan system I practice and TKD, and why we do them the way we do. Actually...now that I think about it...lol you hold your arm at 45 so when something hits it it deflects the energy down and away rather that don on ur head

    kempo

like what? how are belts go up in rank?
  20. what did you have to know? im currently a green belt in kempo, going for blue this wednesday.
  21. talk to the head instructor. if you find youself sparring him just think "the bigger they are the bigger their target area is" but talk first.
  22. fighting opposite sides takes away a rear leg kick to the stomach. and forces them to kick with the front leg which can be good if they aren't that fast with their front leg kicks.
  23. off a side kick i side step towards their heelside while sweeping/pulling there kick to the opposite direction im moving, that throws them off balence and sets you up for a sweep.
  24. ive found that i can time someone when they bounce better than when they dont. meaning i can hit them more when they bounce. ive tries to bounce before and i get hit when im in the peak of my bounce. the upside of bouncing is that you keep your opponent guessing. i move to keep my opponent guessing rather that bounce.
