  1. In class I usually use Zenkutsu Dachi (Front stance) or Neko Ashi Dachi (Cat stance) But as someone has pointed out, I adjust my stance to my oponent, or whatever feels more comfortable.
  2. He maybe wouldn't of "revolutionized" the Martial Arts, BUT no one knows what he would've done. He, in my opinion, would of helped evolve the Martial Arts in movies. Like many have said, Bruce put reality into the Martial Arts in movies, without all the fake stuff like flying and running at lightning speeds and such. Movies would be alot more real then sci-fi, in my opinion of course.
  3. 6-8 months on the average, sometims they'll make exceptions for the class or student (s) who is well prepared and ready to move on to the next rank (belt)
  4. I think these qualities would make up a good Sensei, although there are many types of Senseis, who are, in their own way, good ones. Personnaly i would love to train with a Sensei who is patient, listens to his/her students, someone who explains clearly the subject being taught but also gives students the chance to try and guess the answer to question and who doesn't put their student down if he/she gives the wrong answer. Also, a Sensei who is strict to a certain point, yet fun and pleasent to be around. Someone who loves their job and who knows their limits, as well as the limit he should push his students...There are other things which makes a good Sensei, it just depends on the student.
  5. Different times for different ranked students. For example, white-orange are 45-50 minute classes, green-brown (16 and under) 1 hour and adult classes (my classes, also only for 16 and older students) 2 hours long..
  6. I just recently watched "The New Guy", the show was hilarious.
  7. Im not sure. Good question. Im guessing I'd probably sit and watch one of the classes before I joined. If I notice the Sensei knows what he is doing, and respects his students, then ill most likely join.
  8. Priceless lol That was great!
  9. Yep, I had left for a year when I had just gotten my orange belt. I had to get some extensive knee surgery, therefore, when I returned, I was stuck going to class with kids that we're like 6-7 years younger than me. Which made it hard for me to learn what I should've been learning..But oh well..It was worth it
  10. Yeah, I've felt that way. It feels like your heart is going 60 miles an hour, yet your totally calm and focused. And also, when I do my katas or sparr, my concentration is so intense sometimes I lose sense of everything around me 'cept my target. When my katas are done anytime, I see nothing ahead of me. It's like im blocking everything out, and channeling all of my energy to the one move I am doing. It seems, every time I do a move nowadays and understand the bunkai behind it, I usually see the opponent in front of me, actually being hit and understanding the bunkai even better. But only if im concentrating enough on what I am doing.
  11. I study Goju Ryu Karatedo
  12. Ever since I was young I've never been an angel persay, more commonly known as a Brat...My parents started calling me that, and it just stuck
  13. I agree 100%...It makes alot of sense, and I didn't mean for it to sound like my rank meant more to me than what I've learned, in truth, it really doesn't.
  14. I know a few sites that can maybe help you with the Goju-Ryu Sanchin.. http://www2.anc.net/~gojuryu/sanchin.html http://www.bris.ac.uk/Depts/Union/CombatKarateClub/sanchin.html http://www.geocities.com/norwalkgoju/Katas/sanchin.htm I hope this helped.
  15. Hama Higa No Tonfa is a good one...Btw, does anyone know of any sites where they teach you the kata?

  17. Thanks, Ill really keep in mind everything you've all told me. It makes alot of sense, keep it short and sweet. Btw, im teaching two seperate classes, one white belt class (ages 6-10 if Im not mistaken) and a small class of Little Dragons, although I won't be alone (another newly "hired" Sempai will be helping me) this will still be a challenge lol Anyway, thanks for the suggestions, tips and sites, they've all really helped
  18. Hiya: As far as I know, species wise, yes lol And thanks again to the rest of you for the welcomes, 'tis much appreciated
  19. Thank you all for the warm welcome, I feel part of the family already
  20. Well, im not such a high ranked student, as most of you are. But im proud of my accomplishements and not afraid to tell everyone! I have my 3 Kyu Brown belt in Goju Ryu Karate...
  21. Cooking isn't really my thing either. The only things I can cook are probably Kraft Dinner, chicken noodle soup and hot dogs..And most of the time the chicken noodle soup is either black or not fully cooked
  22. Im a new Sempai who was just recently giving the pleasure to teach first year white belts in September. I was wondering if some of you could give me some tips, games or exercises that could make class a little more fun, yet still educational for the youngsters. ~ Thank you in advance~
  23. In my opinion, it is not right to give someone a full shodan at such a young age. Martial Arts is Mind, Body and Soul united as one. The child may have the Body and partially Soulful part of Martial Arts, but mentally they are not ready for such a huge skill. They don't have the full capacity to know everything which is right an wrong. They are not ready to handle the pressures of knowing what they know and using it when they can, which can be used for good or bad, depending on the child. So...no I don't think it's right..
  24. NFL: St-Louis Rams/DCs NHL:Toronto Maple Leafs MLB:TBJays Don't really watch College Football...Im more of a hockey person..
