I agree with KickChick cardio will help you both in class and out. It's amazing how good you'll feel after around 2 weeks worth of cardio and eating right. For an easy way to start cutting those calories drink water instead of soda. Not a sports drink either (except for during and right after working out). Try to drink around a Gallon a day. Enjoy kickboxing!

here's some of a black belt test at that school that kickchick is talking about. http://members.tripod.com/zettlemoyerksd/sp.mpeg http://members.tripod.com/zettlemoyerksd/up.mpeg they are from a guy breaking boards with the crappiest technique I've ever seen!! I would love to spar with him if he really punches like that!

Spinning kicks and Arial kicks....

Never under any circumstances would I kick above the waist in a street fight! I wouldn't kick with my rear leg either. In a street fight you must be quick, precise, and very mean. A kick to the inside of the knee along with a punch or palm strike to the face and then a knee to the face works wonders. And yes I have had my share of "street fights" -
Wow that was great and 99% true.

exactly Bon

Black belts should not be awarded on how the person ranks against themselves! A black belt should be awarded when that person meets physical, mental, and any other requirements set by the school. Ya'll sound like a bunch of little league parents that think thier kid deserves to play the whole game even though he's the worst one on the team. If your school awarded a black belt to a student who you far surpassed in skill level when you are a lower belt how would that make you feel? How about when they give away belts because the students been there X amount of years even though they don't deserve it? Doesn't that cheapen your belt? But that's just my opinion.

He teaches yoshukai but he has more than 7 students. He teaches out of a couple of gyms. The classes I go to usually only have around 8 people but that is because the gym he owns and normally teaches at is around 30 miles away from where he teaches when I attend class.
