  1. A good friend of mine studies Kajukenbo, and is trying to find a family tree for his style. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone out there can help. Thanx in advance.
  2. ZakariRu. I believe that kicking ability and the ability to fluidly incorperate it into a fight at the proper times are vital. But if you seriously believe what you stated, well then if you ever get into a fight with an accomplished MAist or street fighter for that matter, your in for a rude awakening.
  3. Hellooooooooo. My name is D. Ive studied several styles but really only lay claim to my Hap ki Do training. I'm an Idan in HKd soon to be Edan. I'm full of knowledge, all those amazing things no one wants to hear.
  4. I get a kick out of The cresent kicks, hoock kicks, low and sliding low side kicks.
  5. Special news for all the Hapkidoist out there. Did you know that Jackie Chan's only actual formal martial arts training is in Hapkido under Jin Pal Kim. He is like a 5 th dan. Gota love it. He does have some Kung Fu training from the Peiking Opera house, but hapkido is his only formal training. He said it not me.
  6. How do most of you train? As in, my teacher trys to stay as traditional as possible. In Korea he says they train 6 days a week up to 12 hours a day. They get 4 dan in like 4 years and move off to open their own dojangs. From what I've read most of the Asian schools still do or used to train this way. We are open 10-12 closed from 12-2 for lunch and reopen from 2-9 Mon thru Fri. Sat 10-12. We are aloud to come as much as we want as long as we desire. I assist in running the school most of the time so I have to be there a lot.
  7. Hey new to this form from dragonslist. I'm glad to see that there is a forum where I fit in more so than at a Kung Fu based one. I study Sin Moo Hap Ki Do under Gm J.B. Lee in Va. at the Internation Hapkido Martial Arts University. We are trditional Hapkido. We do no competitions and no TKD. I was lucky to find my teacher. He started dtudying under Choi about a year after Jae. Jae certified him in his 9th dan in 1983. As a matter a fact Gm Jae is supposed to be comming to my dojang in Sept. I'm pretty stoked about it. I've been studying Hapkido for 3 years now. I'm supposed to go for 2nd dan about Sept. time frame. It would sure be the stuff if Jae was there when I tested.
  8. Hey has anybody here ever studied under my teacher Chong Kwan Jang Nim Jung Bai Lee(James Bond Lee is his American name)
  9. Why hello. If you study a TKD based Hapkido you may have to do forms. My first Hapkido school was this way. I believe it all really depends on how much into the competition thing the school is.
