  1. I was recently wondering if there were any members of the forums here that had any videos of themselves performing their skills on a viral video (YouTube, PutFile etc.). If you do and would like to post it here please do. As for myself, I have a couple. But I don't think any of them are good enough to post here So I'll just skip it for now.
  2. That's all very interesting, Nightowl. It's part of the reason I never look at any group as a whole. I moreso look at the individual. If the individual martial artist (we'll call him 'Bob' just to make this easier for me ) was honorable and respectable with his skills then I think he is a very good person as well as a martial artist. However, if Bob was cocky and constantly looking for fights and trouble I wouldn't like him too much. But 'Bill' over there could be different. I'm probably being really confusing right now. Reguardless do you understand what I'm saying?
  3. I got plenty of snow today. I was making a short film with my friends and I spent plenty of time falling and getting thrown into the snow. Fun. I got upset when I came home earlier today and saw the snow melting.
  4. I rarely see a Muay Thai fighter use a side kick, though in Muay Thai rules I'm sure it's allowed. I would highly suggest using them as well. Side kicks are naturally very powerful. I'm not even that fast or balanced and I have sent people to the ground and/or back quite a few feet with even a half-asked side kick.
  5. I felt so refreshed yesterday I went sledding up at a local park with some of my friends and got to fall on that snow a few times (more than a few times actually) that felt so good.
  6. Of course all that can happen. In my oppinion there is always a happy medium, finding it is the difficult part.
  7. Though Bushido_man96 may have been joking (I can't tell for sure) I agree with this. If he sees what real contact is, he'll shut up. Otherwise he simply shouldn't be there.
  8. Dang son! And I like falling on snow! I can only imagine what it's going to be like for me.
  9. Sounds like fun. I'm jelous.
  10. Symphony-X, I know that tip all too well. For balance and strength exercises, try holding one leg in the air for as long as you can.
  11. I like falling a lot.
  12. Sounds like a fun guy. I saw a video of him instructing on YouTube once. He was hitting people in the neck with rulers and practicing pressure points. I was thinking "Dang...I want him to teach our class."
  13. What about In Hyuk Suh? Have you ever met him? I had a chance to meet him last year when he was in my town. However my parents made me to go my mother's house the day he was in town.
  14. I had a feeling I might but I just haven't had a chance to try it. So far I've never been beaten in a race.
  15. Gary Evarts is very good at Kuk Sool Won. I really wish I lived closer to the school he teaches at all of the time. Have you ever met him before?
  16. I've wanted to try snowboarding the past couple years. Right now I'm a speed skiier. Another snow day for me today. Anyone up for a race?
  17. 3 words in reply my friend: Not around here I would love to though. I got really angry at myself one day I went through the phonebook a couple weeks before a tournament because I needed to find a store to buy sparring gear. I ended up finding 20+ schools that I didn't even know were there! Of these are Aikido Kokikai, Shiolin Kung-fu, Wing Chun Kung-fu, Samurai Martial Arts, Bushido-Kai Judo/Jiu jitsu, and a Tae Kwon Do school I wanted to see was any better than the last one I looked at.
  18. That is kind of scary to me. Both of them.
  19. A friend of mine in Louisiana told me it rained several inches throughout the course of the 13th.
  20. I don't live too far from there. It keeps coming down at a steady (and pretty heavy) rate. A few hours ago I shoveled the walkway into my house and just looked at it and it looks like I didn't ever touch it.
  21. Cool picture. Which one are you?
  22. Full contact, unarmored sparring for quick benefits to: Reflexes Toughness Speed Fighters' instinct Quick decision making
  23. Quite. It's a little hard not to do know what's going on when you think about it nearly every day. Good points in the rest of your message though. I have talked to my instructor anywhere I could get him. Always the same thing. I am ready to bite down and bear with their instruction. It's still very frustrating. You did have a very good suggestion though. Work at another school in exchange for lessons. I wonder if I could pull that off. I doubt my instructor would care if I went to a different school. Even if he did, 2 things; A) He doesn't have to know. B) I don't much care anyway. Very true. I'm certainly learning patience here They do try to teach humility and respect but they don't enforce it much and the lower belts don't get much of it from the upper belts. I wouldn't have a problem with it if they didn't previously tell me that "this is a safe, unbiased area where we can learn and practice martial arts." It's in my code (Consistancy). Hypocracy drives me out of my skull. I'm not looking to learn to fight though. I need to get fit, tough, agile, and fast.
  24. That doesn't seem right at all. Maybe you should have a private chat outside of the school with the girl you were sparring herself, one-on-one and explain what's going on in there during sparring.
