There is a man considered to be one of the most informed on the subject and has spent years developing his knowledge of preasure points. His name is 'George Dillman'. He has studied many styles to be at the point (no pun intended) where he is now. At a test he had medical staff hook up a student to neurological machines to test brain activity, whilst using pressure point moves. At the point of knockout brain activity was noted which resulted in knockouts. Here is his web address http://www.dillman.com/testimonial.asp

Our club charges a reasonable fee of £3 to train for 1 hr 45mins. When we train we pay, if we dont train we dont pay. We are not held into a monthly contract that charges a fee if we dont train. How about you guys/gals

Having a beef with testing fees

My WC 1st degree cost £0. If it cost as much $800, sadly i would not be able to train -
Length in time to achieve black sash/belt
stejitsu replied to stejitsu's topic in Share Your Testing, Grading, or Promotion
I did enter a 5yr's to 6yr's training schedule but it never came up in the poll ! Not sure why -
Hello there i was just wondering the length of time it took for people to reach there first black grade. In my own case it was around 3 1/2yr's for my jiu jitsu 1st dan. In WC it took me 5 yr's to achieve my 1st degree. Both of these systems i trained on a regular basis taking private & sessions outside of class.

well done -
In our club we all train in shoes. Whilst on the mat we change to mat shoes. We train this way because outside we wear shoes. Some people say train in bare feet & condition your feet, why do this? Our feet are designed to carry us for the rest of our lives so keeping your shoes on protects the very things that keep us moving.

Tae Kwon Do, The Gateway MA?
stejitsu replied to Enter the Spaz's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
When i first did martial arts TKD was the martial art of choice for myself. I too got sucked in by the flashy kicks, the nice looking adidas gis. I was hooked but as i got older i moved on to karate and the kicks gave me a good base to work with my hand techniques which were also getting better. I think TKD has done a lot to promote martial arts in general and it keeps kids healthy and off the streets causing bother or general kids behavior, so this is a positive thing. TKD seems to attract children more than adults due to the limitations of older bodies v's young agile bendy bodies. -
This will be good for WTF . In some peoples minds WTF style is weakend by lack of 'gaurd' and hand techniques, whilst sparring. I say good idea.

We practice this type of training and it does get a bit hairy sometimes. The way we do it is put chairs randomly into centre of a room. The chairs scattered we circle and give numbers. Sifu shouts the numbers we all run in and attack via the numbers so the centre man doesnt know which direction the attack is coming from . He also has to negotiate the chairs that are set out in no tidy fashion around his feet. We do the same idea too with a wingman who stays in the centre also. You basically stay back to back, in the centre and support each other as the attackers fly in. Great way of training and good for quick thinking, in case it happens out with family members etc. It really opens your eyes to body positioning and awkward stances!!

hypothetical weapons tournament, what would you use?
stejitsu replied to alsey's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
Try this at your club for added fun. Equipment needed, boxing gloves, kali sticks This is based upon the idea of your opponent has a live blade in his hand , and he thinks the same way back. Put yr gloves on and hold your stick. The other hand is free to hit at close range. The idea is to hit your training partners hand to make him release the weapon. Once u have done this move in for the finish. This is a adrenalin pumping novel way of sparring that makes you move and believe me you move LOL, enjoy -
As a practitioner of WC i find the glide between back fist and jab not too dissimilar as we tend to move from one technique into another. Jab is a control point which sets you up and keeps your opponent at bay and lets you set up your big guns. When i use back fist i use it from a rasping WC hook and circle back with same hand into back fist, this then sets the opposite hand up for rasping hook followed by the circling back fist. I feel ok to use either. Just practice, practice, practice

Before receiving my 1st degree in WC, i also held a 1st Dan in jiu jitsu. I used to train at a goju school and the instructor said i was equal to his Dan graded students and said i should wear my black belt. Self defence & fighting style was the same, apart from the lack of katas. So my 'jiu jitsu' Dan grade, in senseis eyes was equivalent to his 'goju ryu' students levels & skills.

Hell there. WING CHUN. 1st degree JU JITSU. 1st dan. I have trained for many years in different styles and currently exclusively train at Ng Gar Tien. We are progressive in the fact that we try to cover all angles of training, whether it be stand up or ground. We do cross train but have regular(BLACK SASH) small group training sessions with 'sifu' to keep our wing chun to a good standard. I enjoy training so much i need to be reminded i have other commitments, or i would train more if i could Great forum, interesting topics regards

Rank test for next belt (yellow)
stejitsu replied to a_ninja's topic in Share Your Testing, Grading, or Promotion
At my WC 1st degree grading i had 8 weeks to prepare myself from the point of being informed of the grading. We worked hard upto the point with each class dedicated to specific needs that where going to be included into the grading. Boxing, WC,,,boxing V'S WC,,,,WC V's grappling,,,, clinch work with knees,,,,,,Fighting with back against wall,,,kickboxing,,,,,,,standup to take down,,,,,rolling on the matt,,, stick work. On the day of the grading i did non stop fighting from the moment it began to the moment it finished. I was roughed up but felt i really deserved my 1st degree. I took shodan in jiu jitsu but was not pushed anywhere near as hard as this. -
http://www.blitzsport.com/prodinfo.asp?number=57-06 I use these and find them to be ok for training standup and ground work, great on pads also. An all round glove so to speak

In Your Opinion, What is the Most Superior Weapon?
stejitsu replied to TigerCrane's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
On a personal level my best weapon are my legs to try and escape these matters. From a martial point of view i like to use my tiger sticks as i feel confident of using them at a functional level. Without them substitute weapons roughly the same shape can be found in most places so these are my weapon of choice. -
I have had a few injuries whilst training, the latest came this week when i had my tooth knocked out. I never said anything as i got sorted the next day at the emergency dentist. Whilst at judo i have been strangled asleep. Also been arm barred and my elbow went up like a balloon and was stuck at 90% !!!!

Wing Chun in Action!
stejitsu replied to Hart's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
I believe there was no evidence of kickboxing on show. Just because someone wheres boxing gloves,,shin insteps does not make him a kickboxer. Someone learning to spar maybe?
