  1. Welcome!
  2. So Rd1, have you had any luck finding a school? Let us know!
  3. Never heard of him before. Where does he fight? Pride, UFC, K1, somewhere else?
  4. The Sabers are great. I do have to admit though that I only started paying atention to them after they picked up Vannek from the Gophers (I went to the University of Minnesota). Personally I'm really happy today as my MN Wild beat the Red Wings last night 4-2! We're 7-3 in our last ten games which have been against quality opponents.
  5. Well, the rolls are practiced everyday and are one of the first things we learned how to do so I think he'd probably be ok. But as with any home practice you need to be careful. Atemi waza usually aren't learned until much later on but if Cuong Nhu Fury knows them it would certainly be an option. Thanks tufrthanu, it's kinda neat so far.
  6. You could always practice your falls and rolls...
  7. Wow! Keep 'em comming folks!
  8. "Zorba the Greek", that's awesome! LOL
  9. Somehow I knew I could count on Vertigo to like the Gophs! Mariucci arena is a fantastic venue for hockey but you need to go catch a Wild game. The Xcel is gorgeous!
  10. Looks like the Silvertips are doing well this year. Good to see a MN boy putting the puck in the net for ya. Name GP G A PTS +/- PIM PPG SHG PPG PIMPG P. Mueller 32 15 22 37 -2 28 6 2 1.16 0.88 Bloomington MN
  11. So how are the Bruins doing this year?
  12. So my real name is Aubrey which lead a friend of mine to call me "the Golden Cheese" (Au is the atomic symbol for gold + bree is a kind of cheese). There's also Aubs, Auby, Auba Fett, Darth Aubs, Hot Tube (dont ask, really), and Salty Dog. My dad calls me Bud or sometimes Vern. I dont really get that last one though
  13. Jeeze Laurie, you are old LOL I'm only kidding. I'm actually 28, almost 29.
  14. I like Tool, Sevendust, Metallica (older stuff), lots of hard rock and alternative. Big Hendrix fan too.
  15. Is anyone here a hockey fan? What's your favorite team? Do you prefer Pro hockey or college? I'm from MN so I grew up watching the Gophers and the North Stars until they were relocated. Now I'm a MN Wild fan. I was able to buy part of a season of tickets from my roomates family this year and I can't wait to go to the games! GO WILD!
  16. We wear white dobaks, BBs get the black colar, and 4th Dan and up can wear black pants if they wish.
  17. I dont mind it. People go into MA with all kinds of different goals. This type of school will help people with the goal of fighting in NHB competitions just as a school for internal arts can help a person on the road to personal and spiritual growth. They're just different ways to meant different goals in martial arts and both are worthy in my opinion.
  18. What style are you looking for? What do you want out of your training? Here's my school: http://www.mntaekwondocenter.com we have an affiliate school in Woodbury too. Classes are held 5 days a week and you can go to as many classes as you wish. Tues and Thurs are sparring days and friday tends to be heavy on self defense with lots of boxing, joint locks, elbows etc. Monday and Wed are lots of drills, forms, and conditioning. Check it out we'd love to see you. A very well respected Kali school. I know a number of people that train here. Second to none in the area for high quality realistic martial arts. http://mnkali.com The home school for the U of M judo Club. I took the judo class back in college and these guys are great. http://www.northstarjudo.org/ One of the ladies from our TKD school works out here as well. She's doing really well on the amature fight circuit I hear. http://www.mmaacombatzone.com/ And here's a page with a ton of MA schools in Minnesota most of which I know nothing about. The page might e a bit outdated too but it's the best I could do for ya on short notice. http://www.iplease-minnesota.com/write.asp?state=ME&category=799945 So, that's a few schools of varrying styles and focus that you may want to look into. Good luck and come see us sometime!
  19. My friend wrote this one and it's now my favorite haiku (it's pretty silly and clearly not what you need but I couldn't resist posting it) Where is my napkin I used it to write haiku I can blame no one Or there's always the all time classic: C is for cookie that is good enough for me C is for cookie
  20. Really? Cross training is very common at my school and even encouraged.
  21. Good luck everyone. I just got my BB last month and let me tell ya, the training you do now will only get more intense AFTER you get that new belt LOL
  22. Ah, but reptiles and fish also lay eggs and they were around WAY before chickens evolved therefore the egg came first. I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.
  23. welcome!
