where i am from 9 out of 10 people own and shoot guns on a regular basis either for hunting, competition, of just fun. guns are a part of everyday life in a small town. i own five myself. teaching defense against guns is a must. although crime rate is very low here the gun rate is alot.

it is good to a certain degree. one of our dojo precepts is to conquer one's self and not others.

How well do u know your old kata/forms?
karateone replied to Azmyth's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
everyone should know their lower ranked kata. we had to do everyone before recieving a blackbelt. i am now a sandan (3rd degree) and still know all kata i have learned. -
I do Shotokan also. Ours is mainly geared toward self-defense. My instructor is a cop and so are alot of people there at the dojo. We also have various military personel there also. it all depends on how the instructor gears the classes.

KarateEd: I have also trained in a church. we used to teach a class in a church in Jackson,Tn to get more people into the church itself. We are associated with the Christian Martial Arts Association.

In sparring i kick above the belt as required, in a street fight i am only going to kick below the belt. As far as kicking being cheap, who cares. If I'm in a fight I want to win. i train to use both hands and feet therefore i will and I will do anything to win a fight.

Defending younger siblings
karateone replied to Dazed and Confused's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I would have beat the living crap out of them. i don't have any sisters but i do have a cousin who is as close to me as a sister and she knows i would fight for her. i do have a little brother, he's small but he is mean as he!!. the boyfriend must be pretty sorry if he can't fight for his girlfriend. my fiance knows i would fight for her because i have already proved it. -
Aikido Practitioners
karateone replied to Dazed and Confused's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
i do. it is very effective. the throws and other techniques work in about any real world situations. i would highly suggest it if someone is interested in studying it. -
it is because of the way the ancient japanese wore their swords.

Whe all the upper ranked blackbelts get together from our association (The Christian Martial Arts Association) basics take up the majority of our time together and then we do advanced things. You cannot do advanced stuff without remebering the basics.

I was raised in a strict Southern Baptist home. My grandfather is a preacher and my father is a music minister. First thing the Holy Spirit and Ki is most definitley not the same thing. the Holy Spirit is a part of the Trinity. that is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They are all diffierent but they are all the same. Our human minds cannot comprehend this, it is just one of those things that we will have to ask Him when we get there. Second, Jesus (who is the Son of God) did not use reiki. HIS power came from the Almighty God the Father. Third I have seen Ki and reiki used but i do NOT believe they should be put before or even close to where God is placed.

I don't know about where you are but around here you have to make yourself seem like a bad dude. Stick your chest out and be man. Try to avoid a fight but if one happens don't back down stand up and show them you aren't scared. If you'll do this sometimes they will leave without a fight but even if you do fight they can't help but respect you. Dont do anything stupid but don't be a skeerdiy cat and run.

Jiffy that is exactlywhat i mean. It is very simple and easy to do with some practice. It is just natural movement. -

Move your arm inward and throw his mind off and then move your arm outward and roll his arm over into an armbar. I know what i'm thinking because i have done it before but i don't know how to describe it! -
