My dojo is associated with the Christian Martial Arts Association. My instructor REQUIRES that all of his instructors (including myself) be born again Christians. We keep the dojo a Christian environment but also teach some pretty sweet self-defense.

My main style is Shotokan but it is mixed with Aikdo. We do alot of strong techniques and alot of takedowns and throws. I train with cops, military, and many martial artists to develop a style that works no matter what.

I don't particularly like kata but it is definitly useful. you can't just look at the moves you have to look deeper and see the self-defense techniques inside each kata. this will help in sparring and on the street. i know around here in tournaments, whoever wins kata usually wins sparring.

Been in a few. I can hold my own. Some people just don't understand anything except a good head stompin'.

First move in any fight is devestation. about 16 pounds of pressure breaks a bone. go for the leg especialy if the leg is locked.

My school is particularly christian. the owner requires all his instructors to be born again christians. all the schools in my area are christian dojos.i don't know if there are any budist schools out there. your religion should not interfere with your learning the arts though.

At my dojo it is $40 a month with no contract. Family discounts are available. I get my lessons free because i teach the classes he can not be at.

I am a 3rd Dan in Shotokan. It would definatly work onthe street. i know from first hand experieces. If I could do it all over again, I definatly would. I love the defense part and in my school we teach alot of bunki and self-defense. My instructor is a cop and alot of the people in the dojo are cops. between their training and ours we try to get the best defense systems available.

We had a father and two sons who were higher rannked and wanted to e rough when sparring. this continued to get rougher and rougher. we confronted them and that worked for awhile but then whered off. seeing as country folks only learn from a beating they only fought the upper ranked blackbelts and instructors and we were rougher with them. they eventually realized they were not the best thing in the world and were not as rough.

My school has over a hundred students. that is awesome seeing as it is in extremely small town Tennessee.
