  1. yea, im not too familiar with Arizona, so i cant help you much there. welcome to KF though!!
  2. yea, i never realized how locks and the knife fighting looked pretty impressive also.comprehensive the filipino styles were. i thought it was mostly stickwork, but they had a nice bit of hand to hand combat with some pretty nasty joint locks in there, and the knife work looked pretty impressive also. i mean i take arnis but not purely, its kind of mixed into our hapkido curriculum so we focus only on the stick and knife work of arnis.
  3. looked decent to me. i'd say to put more of your hip into it to increase the power.
  4. yea, we start them off with point sparring and then we go to medium contact. then we do medium contact with sweeps, takedowns, throws... we take safety precautions. we wear cups obviously, headgear, gloves, footgear, and chest protectors if we want. with full contact we use 12 oz boxing gloves so we obviously dont do many takedowns, maybe sweeps occasionaly. with the medium contact, we use mma/grappling gloves. so that we can be more proficient with takedowns and such.
  5. usually when students reach around 6th or 5th kup, we start them on full contact.
  6. no, its full contact. the only things we cant do are hit to the groin or to the back. we are allowed sweeps, throws, strikes to the face and body.oh, and we arent allowed leg kicks either.
  7. my school is like that. we do full contact fighting all the time.
  8. yea, I really enjoyed it. its about time they made a decent MA show. every MA show out there tries to make us look like super human kung fu ninja guys. this show is all about what real martial arts training is.
  9. yea, i always feel more of a burn when i do crunches rather than situps. i think that crunches cause your abs to constantly be tightened rather that tight, then relaxed once you reach the peek of the situp.
  10. i absolutely love wearing my dobok, although ps1 is right, your not going to see MA uniforms on the street. in my school we wear our school t-shirts with our uniform pants. during the winter we wear full doboks, in order to keep training as realistic as possible.
