  1. yeah, more of a whipping technique.
  2. I think part 4 is my favorite..."I Must Break You!"-Ivan Drago
  3. I think a certain standard would have to set in regard to how much force the pad is struck with, then the standard should be held. There should also be certain guidelines with respect to technique...for example, can a backfist be considered a punch? I can backfist more times that I can throw a decently forceful punch, but I can throw sloppy little tap punches much more quickly than I can backfist...even if there's little power to them. Too many variables... http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/content_pages/record.asp?recordid=61590 I did find ^^^^^ that interesting link ^^^^^ but it didn't list power or technique...perhaps it doesn't matter.
  4. a bit off topic here, but I don't think that a certain amount of pushups should have anything to do with rank. I can see placing emphasis on fitness, but that seems excessive...
  5. My favorite: "You do karate?" "yeah" "cool, show me some" Usually at work mind you. So, I say are you ready for lesson one? They say yes, and I walk away.
  6. aw c'mon guys...I liked part 5. It had a coming of age for his son, and all that good mentor-losing-student-to-bad-guy-with-more-money drama. I'm a fan, so I'll be there when it opens.
  7. I will never forget to do just that on this day. See, today is my Birthday. That just makes it that much more personal.
  8. Thank you sohan, for yet another vision that I will be unable to strike from my head cool vid though
  9. well, he most likely wasn;t warmed up and most certainly shouldn't have been handling that weight if he wasn't used to it. Anyway, I press in the area of 350. I really don't know my one rep max because I don't only do one rep and have never tested it. My lowest rep set is 3-5 reps and is in the 315 range.
  10. there's some good ideas in there for warmups on chest day...thanks
  11. I'm SOOOO there! I love the Rocky series...of course it's hollywood hype, but who cares? You always get that feel good sensation all over when the champ downs another opponent.
  12. yeah, I thought my mother was ribbing me, but sure enough. he will definitely be missed.
  13. I was lost on most of the cultural issues, but if you follow the movie, they give you a decent background on the why and where. The fight scenes I though were good, but a bit too CG. I really got into natalie portman's struggle and the imprisonment part, but that's me...going for the underdog. I also agreed with the entire scheme V had thought out...I really despise crookedness in Gov't. and that head chancellor really took the cake in crookedness.
  14. See, i listened to Nevermore and just couldn't get to enjoying it...maybe it was a mood thing. today, I worked out to Mozart: O Fortuna, and Bach: Tacatto and Fugue in D minor...man, that was great! O fortuna is very powerful and Tacatto and fugue is as close as classical can come to tchno and still be classical in genre...try it, you'll like it
  15. ok, I have a few versions of the song. If you want them, shoot me an email.
  16. I used Limewire, and found a couple, but wasn't able to download...not enough sources. maybe tonight
  17. Exactly! We did a drill where we moved up the circle around a bag while punching with our lead hand and in two minutes, I had like 160 punches...lemme tell you that the last 130 or so just plain sucked!
  18. I'm pretty sure Richard Clayderman does the theme you want. I haven't seen the movie, but would you be referring to Chariots of Fire?
  19. you might try a file sharing network...bearshare or limewire for example
  20. well, I was all set to disagree with even that many sloppy punches, but I found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYs8_smDJ_Q not bad.
  21. There are these little Lemon-Oh's cookies that are provided for my patients up at work, and I find them completely irresistable. Four cookies to a pack and four packs with a carton of milk...oh yeah, there went the diet
  22. I'm especially fond of toasted pine nuts, crumbled feta and lamb slices, but my standby is pineapple and canadian bacon...like an old friend, it picks me up when I'm down.
  23. Oh, heck yeah! VNV Nation, Covenant, Manson, Rammstein, KMFDM, Skinny Puppy, Slipnot, System of a Down, and others...I need a good pounding beat in my head. It defintely makes a huge difference. Plus my stopwatch is in my MP3 player so I ahve to have it on anyway to know how much to rest between sets.
  24. enter into traditional weapons instead of open. That way you shouldn't have to compete with all the extreme stuff. I watched both kata you have and they both look great. While I like the bo staff kata, I preferred to watch the three section staff kata simply because I know how difficult it is to preform. Most impressive kata. Concentrate on snap and power with the empty hand technique during the form and you should have a sure fire winner. Again, highly impressive form. IMO, you have nothing to worry about, and wuold clean up most BB age divisions below you...at least the majority that I've seen.
