  1. I can understand it improving your reaction times, but intelligence...hmm.
  2. I train with Bo. I also carry it around as a "walking stick" where I live can be pretty dangerous, very urban. I've even been ambushed by two guys with knives, luckily the bo has length and I'm skilled with it, otherwise I dunno if i'd be telling you guys about it.
  3. Me and some friends spar with Bo and Bokken (sometimes one of us has Bo, the other Bokken) to get better at versatility fighting. When you get hit it hurts, but it's fun...no pain no game right?
  4. I carry a Bo Staff, it's not legal (I don't think?), but a few cops have stopped me and ask me what I had it for, I told them it was my walking stick, and they bought it.
  5. I needed that laugh ☺
  6. We can all learn something from this man. When you are confronted by a speeding car, use karate. (lol)
  7. I haven't studied much of TKD, but I have Karate, so excuse my ignorance when I ask, what IS the difference between TKD and Karate? (Yes I know Karate has subcategories also..Shotokan, Shorin Ryu, etc.), but in general.
  8. I'm not sure about anything Martial Arts-wise, but I excersie with 20lb weighted forearm and calve attachments, for 30 minutes each day. When I take them off, it really makes a difference in speed and power. Also jumping ability is dramatically increased if you jump for at least 3 minutes after putting them on. Side Note: Not sure if this is true, but I heard about a guy in Japan who wore a backpack full of bricks that weighed his own body weight, and he wore it for 3 years, when he took it off, he could beat probably any olympic runner and jump higher than anyone would have thought possible. Anyone know anything about this?
  9. I was watching this video of two guys fighting (https://www.video.google.com), one trained in karate, the other kung fu, the Karate-ka won by at least a few kicks to the head. If Kung Fu is sped up Karate, that guy must've really had bad technique..
  10. I'd recommend the best thing for losing weight is excersie (mostley situps), jogging, and eating right. Don't buy into all the weight loss pills and all that crap they have advertised on T.V. It's just a waste of money for what you could eventually do by yourself.
  11. I'm in high school (and as most of you probably know that can be rough), just because everyone is so cocky and wants to prove themselves. Well I accidentally bumped into this kid in the hall, and acting gangsterish he told me to square up, only a few people knew I was a Karateka, and they were wondering how this would end. Before fighting I tried to tell him to calm down, but he swung first. As I assumed (which I shouldn't have), he was trying to box me as most untrained kids would do in a fight, he came at me with a flurry of punches, but missed because I just took one step back and roundhouse kicked him in the right thigh (pretty hard), and he lost his balance instantly and his head hit the floor (I didn't mean for that to happen), luckily everyone understood I was only defending myself so I didn't get suspended or kicked out of the dojo. After that I saw at least 7 kids in the hall and at classes asking me where I train and how can they.
  12. It's going to be a good opportunity for me to join your community and expand my knowledge of martial arts. Right now i'm a Green Belt, and I love Martial Arts. I've always been interested watching Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. It's too bad Bruce Lee died, I would love to see a match between him and Jet Li..
