  1. No problem, I'm a Star Wars (and Star Trek) nerd, I have thousands of links to the most obscure SW and ST stuff. May the Force be with You,
  2. Form I: Shii-Cho Form II: Makashi Form III: Soresu Form IV: Ataru / Ataro / Sokan Form V: Shien / Djem So Form VI: Niman / Jar'Kai Form VII: Juyo / Vaapad http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightsaber_combat
  3. you'll do fine Nik. Just remember to have fun!
  4. a fine bottle of sake is always a nice present.
  5. Don't be fooled by the watering down of Eastern arts in the Western world. T'ai Chi Ch'uan (the correct name for it) is indeed a self-defense applicable art. Every single move, from every one of the 5 major T'ai Chi style forms is a Martial Application. The applications are broken down to three levels.: Chin-na - Seizing and controlling Ch'uan Fa - Striking Tien Shue (Dim Mak) - pressure point activation and neurological shut down points. If you ask your instructor to teach you the Martial Applications, and they say that T'ai Chi is for health only, they probably don't know pure T'ai Chi, but a watered down westernized version of it. Please note, this is NOT a slam on any style or teacher, just my version of the truth. And as my instructor (who I recently recieved my Wu's instruction certificate from) says, "The truth, no matter who it hurts, is still THE TRUTH".
  6. I tried google, couldn't really find anything... I do appreciate that though Cathal! Thanks!

  8. Greetings all. I've been practicing Wado-Ryu since having left a Wado-Kai school in FLA in 2002. I'm now looking for anyone in Massachusetts with whom I can train and advance in this system. Anyone know someone in my neck of the woods? Thanks!
  9. Okay, this is probably one of the more odd clipart requests, but does any know where I might find a dragon and a dove in the same clipart, perhaps intertwined somehow, or some variance on this theme?
  10. I've had 4. What is the actual complaint? Meniscus? Bone fragments? or just exploratory? There are no real side effects from the operation. Just don't be alarmed if you wake up the next day and the bandages have bled through. It does happen, though not all the time. Only once for me. The main problem after this type of surgery is the pain until your ortho doc drains the fluid out of your knee within the first 72 hours. That is the worst part, worse than the surgery itself... After that, it's smoothe sailing on percocet. Although, that's the other thing you need to be careful about. The reason I've now had 5 knee surgeres was because my knee felt so good after them, that I didn't wait the full rehab time. GO SLOW, best advice I can give.
  11. my condolences to the families and friends who are enduring much tragedy this past week.
  12. may I ask what his name was?
  13. Steve Irwin, better known around the world as "The Crocodile Hunter" was stung by a stingray, and the stingray's barb entered under his ribcage and pierced his heart. I, personally, will mourn the death of this man whom I have looked up to, much as I did my father, for his love of all things nature. My condolences go out to his wife Terri, and his children, daughter Bindi (8yo) and son Bob (3yo). ~S http://www.forbes.com/business/healthcare/feeds/ap/2006/09/04/ap2991321.html
  14. hmmm... probably the kiho no kata, maybe naihanchi? Pinan Nidan and maybe Shodan? These are from Shito-Ryu, but they are fundamentally the same as the wado kata, the heian are the pinan... http://www.shitokai.com/movies/movies.php Hope this helps, and if you did the ippon kumite katas, you can just punch those into youtube.com Let us know how much fun it is getting back into it!
  15. or like calling shodan ichidan?
  16. Whenever I go out for sushi, I always overeat... But I do that with any oriental food... Certainly my downfall.
  17. shodan nidan sandan yondan godan rokudan shichidan (sometimes Nanadan) hachidan kudan judan Basically 1st through tenth dan, in order there
  18. I see Ki/Chi as a living embodiment of the Holy Spirit. Just my take on it as a Catholic MA'er.
  19. Wado has some of the BEST kata for competition. Kushanku (Kanku Dai) and Bassai-Dai are among my favorites. The only advice I can give you is loud kiais and practice practice practice!
  20. kata? sparring? Weapons? What did you work on, I know when I teach and train Wado for competition, I do all of the above. What did you train for?
  21. though I'm a Japanese art practitioner, I'm working on integrating Deer Horn Knives (sharpened, not like in the link below) as I feel they are some of the most versatile weapons out there today... http://www.martialartssupermarket.com/index.cfm?action=moreinfo&itemid=4059
  22. 8 hour? wow, we must have been at seperate seminars, the one I went to was 1 hour per each of the four instructors and a 30-45 minute iaido and tatami cutting demo. I'm just joking with you, it was a great seminar, and I've written a review on it here...: http://www.martialtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36608 Be well!!!
  23. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wadoryu That's a fairly accurate report on Wado-Kai and Wado-Ryu.
  24. good stuff, where is the school, and what might the name of the Sensei be? Wado is a wonderful Martial Art when taught correctly. And fairly rare these days too.
  25. Lineage talk, good stuff. For the complete lineage of Villari, you have to go a lot farther back than just Nick Cerio... Choki Motobu (Shuri-Te) -> James Mitose (Kosho-Ryu Kempo) -> William K.S. Chow (Chinese Kara-Ho Kempo) -> Adriano Emperado (Kajukenbo) -> Sijo Victor "Sonny" Gascon (Karazenpo Go Shinjutsu, where the original kata and combinations taught in Villari's system came from) -> George Pesare -> Nick Cerio (Cerio's Kenpo Karate) -> Fred Villari (Shaolin Kempo Karate). It should be noted that Villari, while a great Martial Artist, never made it past a probationary Nidan (2nd Degree) rank under Nick Cerio when he broke off and created the form called "Sho Tang Kwok", after which creating, he then promoted himself to 10th Degree Black Belt. Nevertheless, he's a good Martial Artist, though his business tactics leave something to be desired
