  1. That is a good article. I enjoy his honesty about his training.
  2. I've been hard at it! Sometimes I like to ramble on.......
  3. That, you may very well do! The important thing, however, is that you enjoy the training that you do get to do, and that you keep doing it.
  4. I went back to lifting today, and I can feel it! Looking forward to tomorrow's workout as well! I will have TKD class tomorrow.
  5. I remember that these two had quite a fight scene in the movie Gross Point Blank. Benny is one stocky dude.
  6. I order mine bigger, so that they fit my legs. Then, I have them hemmed up.
  7. Lack of experience or direct knowledge of a subject should never stop one from expressing a view on it. With respect, Sohan Good point.
  8. Ah, yes, there is that option as well.
  9. Dropped as a child....that's golden! How did the break go? Did you break the board? It took a couple of goes I'll bet your heal was quite sore after that one!
  10. I would point to the tonfa as an example of a traditional MA weapon being incorporated into modern use. This weapon is being phased out of most police forces here due to the expense and time in training for it's use, but it was used for a long time. This is true, but now they are using the ASP more and more. Maybe some Kali/Escrima training would come in handy there??!!
  11. I see, thanks for the link. I guess I would not be able to vote, becuase I don't have quite enough experience with it.
  12. I would be pitching a gripe about that, if I were you.
  13. It is true that most children don't have a long attention span, but I think they can still retain material, after studying it for a while. Good points, there. Welcome to the Forums!
  14. This is a good point. The problem is that I don't think they realize that they are until it is too late. Personally, I don't think that the majority of people that are in business, no matter what the product, think like this. Sure, they are trying to make money, but I still think that many are still concerned about putting out a good product, so they get repeat business.
  15. Looking forward to an e-party!!
  16. I agree. There is a lot of misconceptions about Medieval warriors, be they knights or foot soldiers. They were still competent fighters; not dim-witted lugs swinging around a big heavy weapon with no knowledge or skill.
  17. I don't think that this quite as likely as most people would think. That is movie stuff. It takes quite a lot of force to break a weapon like that.
  18. A friend of mine who is kind of a Star Wars nut said that the lightsaber is actually equivalent to the weight of a longsword, or similar. They aren't just a weightless piece of light that can be slung like it weighs nothing.
  19. I hear what you are saying, Tom. You can stretch cold, you just won't be able to stretch as far, and it will be tougher to make gains. However, if you do work out hard a few times a week, and then stretch hard after those workouts, and then do the light stretching on the off days, you can still see some gains. That said, you could do some leg/footwork drills, some jumping jacks, etc., to get the blood pumping. When you stretch like this, though, don't try to go to your max stretch position; only go until you feel the mild discomfort. This should help you out.
  20. Congrats! I will be 29 on the 9th!
  21. It looks like you have some tough choices to make. I would like to learn BJJ, so I might lean that way. Each of the styles would be great for conditioning, I think; so either way there. One thing I would do is check to see if the places that offer more than one 'style' have it all included in the class price, or if each costs a certain amount. Welcome to the Forums!
  22. Agreed. But the fact that he did not complete Wing Chun, let alone master it is not a story. However, that does not take anything away from Bruce Lee, as far as him being an exceptional martial artist is concerned. I don't think that he ever claimed that he did master Wing Chun, nor any other style, for that matter. He was know to be somewhat arrogant, but not so much that he diluted himself into thinking something such as that. I do believe that he probably spent enough time in Wing Chun to figure out what he did/did not like, and was able to tailor his own training thus. I agree with this point. He was obsessive/fanatical about his training, and his physical condition as well.
  23. Maybe so, but he didn't choose to take that route. What we do know is that he was fast, trained hard, and there are a lot of stories out there floating around.
