  1. Very informative. I love reading about Capeoria, and this article provides some good information. I'd love to read some more about the mechanics of how the moves work. Thanks for sharing this.
  2. I don't think people are born that way. I think they make decisions to become that way, or things affect them early on that lead them into it.
  3. 11/29/2010 Made it back to TKD class last night, too. Did mainly basics and forms review, which was good, because I sorely needed it. My legs are really sore now. I forget how much regular training does for my body.
  4. I think Judo would complement your Karate more than the others. Dancing would teach some different coordination and footwork skills. Fencing would be fun, but not as practical as Judo, in my opinion.
  5. Those ACCIDENTS will happen. I remember once ACCIDENTALLY kicking a guy in the back. Really hard.
  6. Yes, I had heard that. Lincoln was also a fan of just about any feat of strength. Very interesting guy. I read he also had a sword duel at one time, if I remember correctly.
  7. I think they groom and train poodles when no one is looking. Zombie poodles. I knew I didn't like poodles; now I know why.
  8. The two can have a bit of a crossover, I think. Not all experiences will have anything to do with our Martial Arts, but some will, and that experience benefits our Martial Arts training.
  9. I don't change in front of every member of my family, though.
  10. I don't think the UFC is a "game." Its a fight competition, like other fight competitions, but is more inclusive than all others, minus a street fight. In ways, the UFC is better now than it was. Its availability has increased, and there are more events now than before. Yes, there is advertising, but, it takes money to promote these events, and to get the best quality fighters out there to compete. Another point that isn't being brought up when comparing UFC now to UFC then, is the quality of the fighters. The fighters are better atheletes today than they were when the UFC first began. Training has gotten better, and the fighters are more well-rounded. This makes a difference, as well. Everyone that competes in the UFC now has a modicum of experience in all ranges of the fight, unlike the early UFCs, where there were many single-disciplined fighters. So, with the amount of skill that is out there, I don't think allowing head stomps to a downed opponent would make a whole lot of difference in the fights. Would you see it from time to time? Sure. Could it make a difference from time to time? Sure. But overall, I don't think that fact that it isn't allowed doesn't affect or alter who wins or loses all that much.
  11. I always felt like I breathed well during forms, but afterwards, I am tired, and tend to breath heavier and more quickly. I recover, and then go to the next form.
  12. I would say, though, that you wouldn't have to worry about any "skilled zombie grapplers" out there. Once turned, any skills learned as a living being, or non-undead being, or whatever, pretty much go out the window. They have no skills, just a drive to feed and.....I'm not sure what else.
  13. Most cultures have some form of folk wrestling in their history, so this would not surprise me.
  14. I've heard this so much over the last several years it makes me want to puke! It is hard to stomach that for so long. I can't imagine what its like to be a Lions fan. They have been suffering for a while now. The Chiefs have put together back to back wins now, and Dwayne Bowe is becoming an elite receiver in the league. Its awesome to see this transformation from dropping passes every game to making the big plays and setting KC TD records. Charles is awesome, too, and looks to be making a name for himself. I'd love to see Jones get on track a bit better, but I think he just needs more carres to get going. But, the tandem work great together, and they are great opposites. Now, the Chiefs really need to win their upcoming division games. I'd like to see them get to 10 wins, which is still possible for them. They still have some work to do, but I can see them getting better every week, and this is so much fun to watch. Keep going, KC!
  15. I have to buy larger pants, like 7s and 8s, and then get them hemmed up all the time. You could go to a tailer and get one personally made...
  16. Looks good, Joe. Nicely done!
  17. This is a good point you bring up, and one I didn't really consider. When I saw the word "fell," I thought "defeat." But, the way you explain your point here makes sense, and I can see how you viewed it differently, too. And I agree that just because someone falls down, the fight isn't necessarily over. Thanks for elaborating on your viewpoint here. It makes for more interesting conversation.
  18. The thing about experience is that it takes time to build up. So, in a Martial Arts sense, we need to practice our techniques early and often (but not necessarily hundreds of them), so that when it comes time to build experience, we are properly prepared to engage in that experience.
  19. Yeah, other than core building, I'd say using protection of some sort will prevent more injury.
  20. I agree with some strength training. Also, some bag work will help with developing power, and seeing some feedback on the power you've got.
  21. 11/29/2010 Finally back to the gym today! Woo-hoo! And now, the sad realization that I have lost soooo much. Push day: bench, incline bench, triceps push-downs and another bench tricep exercise. Also did some abs and some forearm work. I keep telling myself that it will all come back, and just take what I can get for now, and not push it.
  22. Never had the chance. Our instructor said he was going to be getting some for the gym, but they never did show up. I've heard good things about them.
  23. Its good the injury wasn't serious. A torn rotator cuff could put you out for quite some time. A lucky little reminder for you, I'd say.
  24. Welcome aboard!
  25. I'd agree with the pain tolerance of a zombie. If they do feel pain, it does not deter them, so they probably would never tap out. I'd say ranged weapons are good idea. I like the tank idea, too.
