It is true, fighting is the absolute last resort. I hate fighting, and I hate hurting people. I have hurt many people my days, I don't like it, and if i can avoid it i will. Try to avoid it if at all possible only fight if you have to.

I think you've missed the ball tapout, you claim that you had no other meaning behind your videos other than to "watch and enjoy", yet your mouth speaks of boastrous banters. Trying to prove something, using your last defense as a "why don't you join a nhb tounament?" speaking for myself, i don't enter one, because given the chances i WILL rip the eye balls out of my opponent. Why? Because I don't have anything to do with competitions, they waste my time. They train the body, mind and techniques to win in a controlled environment for entertainment purposes. This is waste to me. I feel that Martial_Artist is the same, why doesn't he join? Quite simply, because he would be disqualified for "breaking the rules" in your so called accurate judgement of a real fight situation. I doesn't matter to me how you feel about NHB, Mixed Martial Arts, sambo, etc...But if you want to discuss it, then don't come blazing out in an ultra defensive stand point. Nobody's attacking, you, it may seem as i am. But, i don't care for unprovoked anger or defensiveness. Come and learn with mutual aprobation. As for the mentioning of "grappling", that's simple, ever since the UFC,and other such events emerged, there has beem a falsety, a goss misjudgement that unless you are a grappler, or you study bjj, and other such arts, then you are useless as a fighter. Black Belt Magazine event went so far as to say this as well. Like Martial_Artist said, if you want to come here to talk about martial ats that's fine, but don't come here an rant and rave about how superior NHB fighters are over other styles or martial artists. For by doing so, you throw all your validity out the window, no one can take you seriously. As for the videos, they're lame. Both videos are a pathetic representation of all the arts demonstrated in the videos. That's all i need to say about those, i could go into detail, about them, but there's no point. I have had plenty of experience with NHB fighters, grapples, bbj's, even sambo students. I have several friends that do all these. I respect that, but one thing they don't do is talk like NHB, and other such related arts are superior.. that's defeats the essence of the martial arts, they understand this. For that, i respect them, and their art. Furthermore, you misjudge martial artist, you say that he is not a "grappler", if you mean stictly a grappler, then you are correct in your statement. But for a fighter to only train extensively in "stand up" fighting or "ground" fighting, would be foolish, and that fighter will be caught unexpectedly and hurt very badly. Don't be closed minded, don't limit your gaze. To do this, to limit oneself, is extremely dangerous for a martial artist. Keep in mind Tapout, all this although may appear as an attack on you, is just merely a response to what i've been reading, not an attack on you, i don't know you, and for me to cast judgement on you would be foolish of me. Also, keep in mind, all this is imho. If you wish to discuss, different styles, and the technical aspects of fighting, etc, etc... then I am all game, i always have room to learn. that's what i'm here for. I'm not here to be defensive or angry in any way. I hope this helps. "Understand this, a man without honor, is not a man at all...but a coward in disquise"

How often do you sparr?
Jade_Lotus replied to rabid hamster's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I try to sparr at least once a day, except for Sundays that's my day of rest. However, lately, i've hadn't the time to sparr as much as i'd like, but that'll soon be over. I think it's healthy for a martial arts fighter to sparr regularly, it helps to prepare for unexpected combat.(of course i'm not talking about sparring with set patterns and movements, that would be pointless, and self-defeating in it's purpose.) -
It's been a while since I've made any posts, i've been busy with my wedding and work, and just a bunch of things. But, I must say, that I completely agree with Martial_Artist. EGL, obviously lacks any real discipline or self-respect. When I read through the post I laughed, very hard, I find EGL, comical, and quiet kiddish, never to be taken seriously or even given the time of day. Good show MA!

LOL, again Long Wong I laugh, it's clear to me that you truly don't understand much of anything. The ability to "school" bears no resemblance to a true master, for the greatest master of all, wins all his fights withouth fighting at all. Maybe this will help you to understand, but i don't expect it to, so i'm not worried about. I don't care if you respond or not to this, i've grown tired of your shallow rambling. This conversation is done. I'd rather use my time and effort, on someone, or something more wothwhile. Have a good day. Thank you for you replies.

American Martial Art.
Jade_Lotus replied to stonecrusher69's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I mostly agree with Martial_Artist, he's right on many aspects of the question. I think the answer to it, is a simple one. Lets take a look at how America was founded. When America was founded, we came over from England and other parts of Europe, already a civilized people. Our means of defense were the sword and gun. The far eastern countries weren't founded by an already civilized people, they evolved and developed themselves(still in the process btw). Starting off with only their bare hand, and some sticks and stones. They had a need to learn, hand to hand combat, in a more in depth manner. It was their means of defense from bandits and attacking nations. The didn't have the technology that we had, so hand to hand combat(aka martial arts) was there primary and only means of warfare and defence. Until of course the invention of more advanced weaponry for example, swords and bows, and spears, etc.. Too many to mention them all. But that's the basic answer, add some philosphy and religion and there you have the martial arts. So that's why we don't have our "own" martial arts. We just didn't have a need for it. Well, i didn't want to get too deep into history, but that's just a brief explanation. aka "new world" not "old world" [ This Message was edited by: Jade_Lotus on 2002-05-04 21:45 ] -
LOL! You are indeed a funny funny person, long wong. I've gotten quite a wonderful laugh from your childish banter. I look forward to exchanging many posts with you..you make me laugh, and i like that. Of course anything you say, i can never take seriously. You talk like you're a teenager, hiding under the mask of the "internet" and a message forum, to come here and pretend to be some all knowing "master"..you truly do bring great laughter to my belly. If this upsets sets you, don't blame me, it is you that has done this to yourself. If you're going to claim to be some "master" then you'd better start coming across like one..your mindset, like i said, only implies that you are nothing more than some mere "wannabe" who knows a FEW names of some martial arts, but nothing more than that. Don't worry Long Wong, your amusing banter did not upset me, only made me laugh. I get a kick out of you and your all knowing knowledge. Please don't leave this site, i enjoy the laughter. Thank you for your reply, and welcome to you as well! "Understand this, a man without honor, is not a man at all, but a coward in disquise."

Thank you for your welcome, I am happy to be here. Of course KickChick, there are many benefits to studying the martial arts, and i realize all of them..but my purpose, remains the same. For defence. That's what the "Martial Arts" are for. If you break down the meaning: "Martial"-of relating to, or suited for war or a warrior. of or relating to an army or military life. Warlike.- "Art"-skill acquired by experience or study. a branck of learning. an occupation requirring knowledge or skill. the use of imagination and skill in the production of things of beauty.- To study the martial arts for any other purpose than to be able to defend oneself, and those around him/her, would be self-defeating in it's purpose. But please understand, i am referring to purpose, not benefits. Thank you so much for your reply.

Hello fellow MA's! This is my first time on a martial arts forum. Just thought i'd introduce myself. I practice the martial arts for defence of myself, loved ones, and those who need it. That's it, that's the only reason i study. Well, that's pretty much it. I look forward to having many interesting discussions with everyone. Especially you "Martial_Artist" I have read your posts, and can tell that i will learn much from this site.
