I just earned a first degree black belt I Hodari Jua Karate-Do. I plan on working with my current Sensei for another year or two, hopefully into second degree (I have no idea how long it takes to reach that rank), until I move to an Art Institute in California, where I'd like to learn Wing Chun. But the first thing I here from a lot of Wing Chun guys is that there are more bad WC teachers in America than for any other martial art. Does anyone know of any decent teachers in LA or Sacramento? Or even in South Carolina
one of the best wing chun teacher in CA is Hawkins Chueng. A deciple of Ip Man..I'm not sure where in CA he's from but he's one of the best no doubt.

Reminds me of the concept...
"When he contracts, I expand, and when he expands, I contract!"
Nice video...has many possibilities!
Thanks for sharing.
Yes,exactly..that's a nice and simple way of saying it.

How to enter into close combat range safely.

What is the sparring like?
I plan on doing videos on that also..

Very interesting video. I can really see how sensitivity comes into play there, and your analogy of creeping up the bridge is a very good one. Your explanations really help to see the concepts at work in chi sao. Thanks for sharing this!
I'm glad you liked the video..this concept is very useful in chi sao but also in sparring as well..i guess thats another video

I am looking at studying Wing Chun, I have never studied a Chinese system such as this having only ever studied Japanese/Okinawan Karate.
I've done a fair bit of looking about on the web for a club, there seemed to be one a few villages away from me called Wugon Academy but this seems to have vanished as far as I can see.
So I have come down to this club not too far from me:
http://wingchunkentregion.co.uk/
Question is, I know what to look for in a good karate school, what about Wing Chun? Are there governing bodies etc??
I'm a wing Chun Sifu..I tooked a look at thei website . the teacher is under Ip Chun which is a very good lineage, but you have to check his cuddentials by going to the V.T.A.A association website and see if he is qualified under Ip Chun...

A very nice break down. I like seeing the why's to it. Thank you for sharing another great vid.
Glad you liked it..Is there any way to embed the video instead of posting the link?

A few pointers to beginners when starting out in Wing Chun..

I appreciate seeing it done slowly, in order to pick out the movements a little bit. Thanks for sharing it with us. I'm guessing by the title of the thread that it is a section of one of your forms?
yes,that's correct..

Nice concepts there. I like the analogy of the spring. I'd like to see some more on how you apply it, too.
Thanks for sharing it with us.
Good idea. I will make a follow up video on it.

Very nice. Thank you for sharing.
I notice the way you blocked to the bicep. The way we learned to block in the GRACIE course was to block at the biceps like that, and then hook to control. Very good block, and gives you good control.
I liked your description of waist power or waist energy, too.
Glad you liked the video. I wanted to cover a few other things on that video but my mind went blank at the last minute, but I plan to make more so I will cover it next time.

There are some very interesting motions in there. I'd like to see how they apply. What are all the finger motions at the beginning for?
I plan on making a video on the main applications of this form..I hope to do so soon. The motions of the finger movements are done for a few reasons 1. it teaches how to use the fingers as a weapon 2. how to use release energy to the fingertips to be used as a weapon.

glad everyone likes it..thanks again!
