what does he mean by too modern?Isn't all your wing chun hundreds of years old?

WCK is hundreds of years old but its a living breathing art.It continues to evolve and change. Its not the same art as it was 100 yrs ago.In another 100 yrs it will be very different then it is now.If a fighting art is to stay relevent it must change.

    every thing is physics

I don't agree..Not everything is physics..Chi is not Physics because Physics only works in a 3 dimentions..Chi is 4th dimenton.

  3. I read that children were chosen into the Shaolin by their spiritual potential. Do you believe that such a potential could be a determining factor in one's ability to fight?

Also, do any of you actually feel the Chi when you fight or train? I'm curious as to your points of view.

I think spirtual potential and fighting abilities are two different things. You can be a good fighter and a bad person,or a good good person who can't fight.I think traditionaly Shaolin only accepted those who they thought had a high moral values so they could trust the new monk with their secrets. You don't want to train someone who you know will use what you taught them to go out and hurt other people.

  4. I was taking Wing Chun for a while, but kinda stopped because of the distance from where I live. I have a friend who's dad teaches him Wing Chun, but when he watched a class of mine, he said it was too "modern" and ineffective in a serious situation. What're the differences?

Too "modern" I have no idea by what he means..if WCK is practiced correctly by the principles it was founded on it should be very effective..

  5. Something more than "keep your hands up" would help a lot too. (That's what I hear from my partners, although they seem to get more hits in than I do.

kung fu is a long road of hard training and learning.Right now ,I would not be overly concerned of getting hit to much when you spar. You learn from your mistakes not by what you do right.Ask your sifu what your doing wrong and work on what you need to do to correct it.I dont think anyone here can give you a simple answer because you could be doing a thousand mistakes.Workon your basics and in time you'll do better.

  6. ki/chi is sort of like religion in that its a personal thing you decide to beilve in.Its hard to prove or disprove.I think chi is just boi electicial engery that we produce from the food we eat and the air be breath.thats all.
