  1. Welcome to the boards. I look forward to reading your posts.
  2. Welcome to the forums!!!
  3. Regarding Fight Club (the book), you should be able to find it at most any book store. I found I couldn't say whether the book or film was better. However, the book's ending was different. I liked that the book had its ending and the film had its, and I wouldn't want to give up either being there.
  4. The coolest form I've seen is the first KSW sword hyung. However, I'll admit that even the white belt form (Ki Cho Hyung) looked amazing when performed by a master with 20+ years training in the art.
  5. Certainly any combinations that covers striking, kicks, grappling, and weapons. Are there any other traditional arts that cover all four of these? Kuk Sool has elements of all, though from what I've seen the striking aspect is emphasized less than others.
  6. I've played a few times and enjoyed it. I like cricket better, though.
  7. I'm a huge fan, and my favorite movie is probably "And Now For Something Completely Different..." "'Ow do you defend against an attacker armed WIIIIIIIIIIIIIITH a banana? First, you take the banana. Then, you eat it, thus disarmin' 'im!"
  8. Happy Mothers' Day to all moms on the forums!
  9. All very good advice. Just never work out after giving blood. I've learned the hard way that it's a really bad idea.
  10. Not necessarily. For instance, larger cities in Africa are hardly lit at all, whereas the area where I grew up, with about 250,000 people spread out over a pretty big area, is really bright.
  11. There was a recent Black Belt magazine about how approaching sparring, etc., with women in this manner is a lose-lose situation for everyone. You might search their site online and take a look.
  12. I know the feeling. Technically our classes are an hour long, but then sometimes you just have to do burners afterward (basically chair sits, calf raises, situps, pushups, whatever Kwan Jang Nim wants to do), and then there's standing around talking, then sometimes we go out to eat...
  13. A quick search for "hapkido tournament" on google turns up over 2,000 hits, so I'd guess Hapkido does have a tournament or two.
  14. Double andate (sp?) is giving me a lot of trouble right now. I have a really hard time getting enough elevation and keeping my balance when I land.
  15. I know there have been a number of discussions about what weapons people own, what is the best weapon, etc. But what weapons do folks actually carry? Specifically, does any carry a cane? I've seen a little of the KSW cane forms, and they look pretty cool. I wonder if anyone carries one for self-defense on this forum (or maybe something else that's not usually seen as a weapon).
  16. What art do you practice, and do you throw all kicks and punches full force, all the time? Many TKD stylists apparently have lots of joint problems down the road because of throwing kicks full force, even when there's nothing there to stop the kick. So maybe try going easy when there's not a pad in front of you--your joints might thank you.
  17. Also a warning--lots of pop-up ads on that page. Don't visit unless you don't mind being assailed by them.
  18. *sigh* Isn't there a topic somewhere for belt advancements on the forums and real world?
  19. There are two recent threads that touch on kitosis. http://www.karateforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=2611&forum=19&20 http://www.karateforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=2636&forum=19&10
  20. myamwebmaster is from Chile, so it seems we have representation from South America as well.
  21. Welcome to the forums, KG! I hope you enjoy it here.
  22. Thanks. Seems unfortunate (though the reason is intuitive) that there were so few hits from China. It'd be interesting to get opinions from MAs in the Orient.
  23. Are you serious, Hiya? It's board breaking.
