How about creatine? It is made naturaly in your body anyway. Many athleates use it jst to speed up recovery time so there muscles dont ache the next day. And multi vitamins. -

I messed up the last post, sorry ask your sensei, or some orange belts. Us guys on the net dont really know your situation the best ppl to talk to would be the higher grades in your class. -
Thats great if your in a kitchen, but if your wlaking through a field, the only weapons are you and the ground and you gotta get close to use ether of them.

I agree that the pills are bad, But I think there were designed to be a kick in the but for large ppl. I can understand why a doctor would advise them for a one time use. This way it gives people a head start to change there life style. Im sure everyone would agree that its best to go natural, but some people are way past fat, and dont dare anymore. At least this gives them a chance. -
Sure I compleatly agree. But this guy would have to be pretty good if he was to beat 6guys with swords. Ive never got that in films when the guy with a bo deffends against a sword, I know it wouldnt cut through but it would do damage and cause splinters. I dont know how effective wooden weapons would be aginst sharp weapns.

Thats just a tree, it doesnt really explain anything.

I understand what your saying but I think your just writing stuff youve read and heard. My kung fu sifu trains martial arts at a wushu school every year. He said there very tough fighters and fight just like anyother northern kung fu school. The reason why it would be hard for anyone to switch from wushu to wing chun or other way round is because wushu is the most charicteristicly Northern kung fu we know of, and wing chun is the most southern. They have diffrent backgrounds and are totaly diffrent. Both are fighting arts. There is a strong performance part to the style but its still a fighting art.

Ok I retract my comment about "pepper spray" but I deff believe that ppl who can't/or dont feel thay can use a deffensive weapon should use a deterrant spray. As I said in my last post, there are alternatives to pepper spray, and i believe they should be used. as for your comments on avalibility... Thats the same with any other weapon. Id rather take my chances trying to hit some1s eys from 4-6feet than wait till they are on you. Of course, all of this is out the window if its a surprise attack. On sim note, I my sister has a very small thin spray canister, with an electric horn and a kobutan. I think thats great.

Me to. I stopped karate for a year cos i broke my hand and started getting fat. Then I started exersising and started to enjoy it. In just over a year I went from 12stone to 9stone, thats 168lbs to 126lbs. I hardly changed my diet at all. Then In the past year ive got back up to 140Lbs with my weight training but have a lower body fat % than when I was 126lbs. Im pretty pleased about it. Having more muscle aids every aspect of my life. I dont get any back pains from working anymore because I can handle it. Im also stronger than my Dad witch is a proud moment for any man. It may seem petty but I mean he deff wont be picking you up and throwing you in the pool anymore!!!!!!! -

When your nervous, everyone tells you not to be and just relax. This never works. You feel how you feel, and sometimes it wont get any better. Dont try and cover up your nervs and find ways round it cos you just cant stop it. I get bad nearvs sometimes, but I tell my self that I got to do it anyway. After you feel much better after, cos you know that you have achieved something even thou you felt that way. Embrace your fear and you will become the successor of it. -
If its a serious situation, I would shut up and do my best. However if its one of those fights that starts as pushing and pulling, or its an argument that looks like its turning nasty I'll say "I'm trained and I will deffend myself if you come any closer." That way, 1) you have warned him, and legally you have done the right thing by warning him. 2) you may have agrivated the situation but If he steps up to you again you can legally strike 1st. rather than wait for him and risk getting hit. I think the key to any fight is to stop it before it starts. Weather that means striking first, or running away. This does not apply if your the one in the wrong!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone has there own ways of dealing with it, and there own suggestions but we dont have any info about you. Tell us about your basic day. What stresses you out? Do you have a busy day? , or is your own emotion that cuases the problem? How old are you? How much do you sleep? What do you eat? I dont think anyone can tell you how to cure stress if we dont know theese things. For instance when Im stressed I like to spend time mith my girlfriend... But some times shes the cause! So thats not gonna help!!!!

Do you guys really feel that its ok to adivise this guy to do heavy bag work and "be pushed to the limit" when you dont know anything about him. You shouldn't punch anything untill you know that you technique is good. He may not break his hand, but he may not be punching with his back strait, or leaning to one side, or have his head cocked. Punching heavy and punching drills can be very bad for you if your spine is out of line.

Thanks for your scooling Aodhan. Im not sure why we call it isometric. In the UK every1 says Isometric. I was just wondering why Compound exersises are better for strength gains. If you or anyone has any scientific back ground in to it I'd be very interested. I was under the impression that "Isotonic" was best as you can train each muscle seperatly and to its full potential. Rather than in compound when the more powerfull muscles take on the most of the load stopping other muscles form being worked. Im not saying its ture, its just what I thought was True.

I'm not a bodybuilder (far from it!!!!) But I am proud of my body because its something I have to show for my efforts, Just like when your proud of wearing your black belt. Many ppl are so far away from being healthy that they stop careing. I think the pills are a good idea. They may be bad for you, but they give larger ppl an insentive to start a healthy life style. I think the idea of the pill is to show someone what they can have if they put in the effort. However with ppl like Orions friend they seem to back fire cos they think they can just take tonnes of pills. -
acctually I think it would be a good Idea for Prabjit to tell us a lil about him self, then perhaps we could all discus what we all think would be best. Thats what he wanted in the 1st place.

Wushu is a kung fu. I do sort of agree with china town. However you cant determine what type of training they have had inside or outside there own style. I think your comment is to steriotypical. Wushu is an art form where they study grace and body conditioning to a degree that most arts consider impractial. But wushu is still an effective martial art, my old kung fu teacher trained in wushu every summer when he went to beijing. just like Karate have kata competitions, wushu have the same.

Firstly, I didnt say you need to do a dozen, I was just giving this guy some ideas, he may not like basketball. He may feel that he would like to work on a particular aspect of conditioning like breathing for example. You said "breath control? don't need to hold your breath in a fight, just breath deeply and regularly" as a martial artist alone you should understand that you never hold you breath on any occasion, swimming included. you dint hold your breath, but slowly release the air whilst you are underwater. Swiming has helped my tai ji a lot over the years. I really doubt that a compleate beginer in MA is gonna learn anything from a book, other that false self confidence. and he clearly will not understand the "fundimentals" before having any training. I would also disagree to heavy bag work. Do you know how old this guy is? what sort of condition, is he fat, skinny, weak strong? You dont know, he could be an 11yr old overweight kid whos parents will buy him anything he wants, and you have told him to train on a heavy bag! unsuppervised he could do him self some damage. of course Boxing would be a good Idea, but do you think he would have asked his question if that was avalible to him?
