  1. Im married and that still happens to me! MA sucks, because it starts to rule you....and the fools that we are we love it!!
  2. Yes but I feel that (and its only my humble opinion), the whole sytem should be learnt, get a 4th dan in grappling as well as striking. That would make you truly dangerous or secure....whichever way you want to see it!! Depends what your 4th dan in grappling is in..... All I am trying to say is get an equivalent of what you are aiming for in your strike art! Also Judokas are respected just as much as BJJ!! http://judoinfo.com/kimura.htm
  3. My opinion: Camoflague belts = Mc DOjo Did you see the explanation of the camo belt that I posted earlier? And, if that is your only criteria, then I don't really consider it an informed opinion. I know of a very excellent dojangh (Not ATA, karate actually) that has some "non traditional" colors as well. Aodhan My opinion: Most TKD schools = Mc DOjo

  6. What do you learn from this?
  7. Offer him a towel and a drink LOL, well against a sweaty opponent you want to get something that will tie up his whole body rather than just one arm etc, a variation of what you have learnt......... or get him in a neck crank (neck cranks are the work of the devil )
  8. Learning a grappling system not just particular defense for particular attacks, a sprawl may fail then you still end up getting chocked out. Learn the whole system says I!!
  9. Practice more, learn a new movement at the beggining of every week, and train that all week or for as long as it takes you to be able to pull it off!!
  10. Very respectfully!! And diplomatically
  11. Yoga for breathing, ballance and flexibility!!
  12. you place your hands on the shoulders, you push in the direction of your sweep (if with the right foot yopu push with the right hand), you then pull with the other hand and lift your leg and sweep. Its as simple as that. A simpler way is to get into a Judo class, or pay extra attention to your instructor. I need to stress practice, practice, practice.........why are you still here, go and PRACTICE!!
  13. Very sensible
  14. Or save your life
  15. I think that any sensible martial artist will stop saying I dont think its real or they dont know anything, we are traditional and i will just kick my way out, and take themselves to a Judo/jujitsu/bjj training hall and learn to defend themselves on the ground......As unlikely as you are to meet a ground fighter, you will at least be prepared if you do. I can tell you alot of ground fighters (that is there base art), take the time to learn boxing or TKD or someother striking art.
  16. Step aside and put your foot out!
  17. That is true Yamesu, I concur. People need to spend an equal amount of time working the tactical as well as technical aspects of their chosen art!!
  18. Kick their legs out, a majority of boxers have quite weak legs, they buy into the idea that size will slow yiou down so they tend to be a bit unproportioned!! Ground fight if you know how, take them down and get them in a jikoku jime!! They never train for that kind of stuff, I dout a boxer even knows what a break fall is, so if the throw doesnt knock him out cold the chokehold will!!
  19. yes we do train for multiple attackers. I must disagree with White warlock, I think that this is the closest we can train to live situations. And I dont know what style you study but we dont hold back, except for kill blows anything goes. Mind you this is only for blackbelt gradings I have seen people lose teeth. I have broken ribs in training, hey different strokes for different folks I suppose!!
  20. Just a thought, during adrenaline rush people do not feel being shot or stabbed, but they are still bleeding out! What do you think of this?
  21. Alot of people say "yeah but when you hit me there it dont hurt!" Does that mean that the damage has not been done?
  22. speaking as a big guy - I'm 5'9 and about 233, so if you imagine the way Tyson looks, that's about my size - and that is not a factor for me. pressure point / joint lock sensitivity differs from person to person. There are some that simply do not work on me. on the other hand, there are others that work extremely well. so what happens when the big dog has just as much fight as you do? LOL I am abot 5 10 and i way 130 kg about 260 pounds with about 12% body fat!! I think I am the bigger guy!! But seriously about the saying of the dogs its just a metaphor for saying that size doesnt always count!! I am not to proud to say that I have been beaten lots of times by smaller guys in tournaments before (I dont compete anymore). I know its different from on the streets, but at the end off the day we both trained for something and I got beat!! Size will not help you from the small wiry guy that is destroying your feet, and the thing about the nerve bundles is a fact... I never mentioned anything like people had the same threshold for pain. However if you are struck in the obscure areas I am talking about, you may not feel it but the damage is still being done!!
