  1. so why do i get the impression that goldberg wins everything in the ring? (or perhaps used to)
  2. and like i said. if he needs the justice league to help him deal with bond then i think we have the answer to the original question.
  3. mainstream? by what do you mean mainstream? isn't the world muay thai fights mainstream? and so what if i don't remember the guys' names?
  4. i thought it was the dude from that snk game, can't remember the name... and this was about bond vs batman. not the justice league against bond. but then again, if batman has to ask the justice league to help him against bond then i think we have the answer to the original question.
  5. i'd like to see you say that to dan inosanto.
  6. um, so? and then i have to ask, competing in what? the last time i checked we were doing quite well against the thais in muay thai... just cos YOU don't see it on telly doesn't mean it doesn't happen. once again, you know jack.
  7. but have you heard the noise a vanquish makes? it is really amazing. 'fruity' is the only way to describe it. almost as good as the noise from a lagonda v8.... as for the DB5, well, not my cup of tea. they could've used a better looking one. too bad they didn't have the zagato gt. sorry, i shouldn't have started on the car rants. i can go on forever... ok, back to the thread. i think the batmobile doesn't really suit the 'ideals' of the character (apart from the one from 'dark knight returns'). the batmobile doesn't instill fear and it makes the point that batman is ultimately a man (which weakens his 'power'). batman is at his best when he comes and goes without a trace and with no help from any machines.
  8. chi is not religion. it is a 'human' thing. it is something that is thought to exist in man. you don't worship chi. you don't do things in the name of chi. you don't get inspiration fro chi. just because some religions meditate does not make meditating the thing of religion. i pray to the traffic lights to stay green a little bit longer but that has nothing to do with religion.
  9. here's a little thought for you. if the gracies never started the ufc and many bjj schools BUT instead only taught a few people who 'proved their worth' what would you say about them then?
  10. but it is still a cultural thing. when you meet someone (in a formal capacity) in japan, you bow. it is custom. it is like the shaking of hands.
  11. not sure but an illustration wouldn't help much because everything in wing chun is a 'movement'. what you usually see in books etc as a tan sau is actually the end position of the movement. the important part of the tan sau movement is where you begin your movement and the positon of your elbow whilst doing the movement.
  12. yeah but aston martin vanquish...
  13. i always think that in knowing the ways you can hurt or kill a person, you know how no to hurt or kill a person. it's all about choices. when you know that you have certain ability in techniques, you can choose to hurt or you can choose ot to hurt. just because you know how to kill someone doesn't mean you have to use that knowledge all of the time.
  14. ahh but the new bond films have the amazing soundtrack of vanquish engine/exhaust.....
  15. i think the best way to describe wing chun is: small quick compact direct efficient realistic boring generally there aren't that many branches in wing chun, the 3 biggest being yip man, yuen kay shan and pan nam. the majority you'll come across will from yip man's, his school having the most students (who in turn have even more students...) the thing is, within yip man's own school there was a lot of controversy over the way things were taught, who was taught and what was taught. wing chun is supposed to be based on the individual. that is why different students were shown to do things differently. what works for one does not neccessarily work for another. as a result there are now many different 'yip man' wing chun schools out there that have differences in how they do things. training consists of a hell of a lot of drills. in class we do a lot of punch/breaks just to get the moves and feel of hard contact/exchange ingrained. chi sau (a bit complex to describe here) but basically it is 'sensitivity/brevity' excercise/game. wall bag, which is an exercise designed by crazy monks to tear every last millimetre of skin off your knuckles.... IF your punching is sloppy. and finally three tools. dummy, pole, knives.
  16. so um, are any of the gracies actually dead? sorry, couldn't resist that one.....
  17. mmm, slightly misunderstood my meaning. the point i was trying to make was how well do you know your first style? are you actually 'qualified' enough to say that something is a weakness? how many kids do you hear say things like x doesn't work without bothering to find out WHY they can't make it work? hmm, i'm still very bad at explaining. let's try again (sorry, the cold stops my brain from functioning at full speed...) the question i am really asking is, have you trained sufficiently in your one style to understand why some things work and some don't? there really isn't much point in taking a particular style for let's just say three months, then signing up for another style that covers that 'weakness' you have found.
  18. whoa... (my new favourite post opening) this from the guy who starts a bond vs batman thread in a vain attempt to shoot down the british?
  19. somebody.... ....please....
  20. what i meant was while batman is very much an individual who works alone, bond is someone that is sent to do something. when one 00 agent isn't enough, they send two. when two isn't enough, they send three... and think about it. the 00 agents normally work alone. how well trained do you think they are if they are capable of working alone. hmm, or perhaps i'm being a bit pedantic...
  21. ignore him, his knowledge of martial arts come from dragonball and w.w.e.
  22. hmm, methinks he doesn't quite understand what 'staged' means... and please, don't use names from the w.w.e to describe things people do. those names are, if you'll excuse my french a load of **********************
  23. i think you've got to be sensible. after all, there's a big difference between loyalty and blind devotion. on the other hand, do you think you have learnt enough from your current art? i personally don't think it's worth looking at other martial arts until you really are versed with your 'original'. by all means go and train in other arts. just be wary of being the proverbial jack of trades but master of none.
