I would try. Stuff like this, I think, is inherently impossible for others to understand. What I chose to take away from this is hope. That there were teachers who hid their children and literally died protecting them is more than laudable and they set a kind of example that I think is more powerful than any gunman could ever hope to top.

I would put up with it depending on the extent of the personality. If they weren't good to students I think I would leave but otherwise I'm pretty good (or bad depending on how you look at it) at being able to not care who they are as long as I, or someone I care for, aren't affected. It all comes down to what you can put up with. This all being said, I think that as an instructor your attitude and what you do outside of the classroom is just as important as how you act inside the classroom and when an instructor doesn't act exemplary it tends to rub off on the students. When it all comes down to it what matters is what you're able to look over and put up with.

Martial Arts in general is rough on the human body.I'm not a fan of negating foundational basics. Sure, it's boring, but important enough to bust out every class. It's also surprising how much farther you can go in a shorter period of time because of basics.

Stretching would help injuries like these. Also as Martial Artists we are constantly trying to push harder and harder without properly warming up or throwing things too hard and tearing muscles. Shoulder injury is also pretty common to hard styles. I think to answer your original question about Judo I would equate it to poor stretching and warming up.

You'll find great training in some of these places. Some of the best schools I've seen were in a one car garage in the back yard. This is true. My school was 100% word of mouth, he never advertised but the training I received was invaluable.

I think it is if you take that training seriously. It's quite the feat but seems like an awesome thing to accomplish. Keep us updated about the training progress. Good luck, I hope you can accomplish this.

Solid observation! I find that it's pretty pointless to be secretive about certain things. An instructor told me that something was a secret of the system once and I showed him where someone had already posted a YouTube video. This made me chuckle a bit. Did his face drop when he saw this?The face was priceless. It was a mixture of disbelief, disappointment and amusement. He eventually shrugged it off and told us that it wasn't quite the same.

I think that I would devote it to re-learning and mastering Chinto. I might not master it in three months but I would certainly be well on the way to.

Someone told me this because, apparently, humans now think that when someone yells rape that it's a joke, and the person doing this is joking. Generally when someone yells rape from an alleyway it seems pretty serious to me.
