  1. no not yet, he still hasnt decided, it will be a long time before it is a full system. he only has the waza complete up tp nidan
  2. i agree, thats not what i thought you meant, sorry about that
  3. i just heard that a friend of mine had someone getting in his face and he is a highly skilled martial artist and instead of taking him out which he is more than capable of doing he reached down and tapped the guy on the groin and didnt hurt him at all, this of course destroyed the guy macho ego and went off and cried about it, then later the leadership at his church asked him to not be involved with the leading of things anymore because he touched this guy "inappropriate". what are your views on this, was it the wrong thing to do or a very smart move?
  4. thanks for all of your input
  5. just like the one guy said a palm can take a lot more force than your knuckles, when you first start to break cement you use your palm generally not the knuckles, because your knuckle take a long time to condition to the point that you can put excessive force on them and still have use of your hand the next day
  6. i disagree, the animal styles are very effective. and the body types doesnt mean you cant excel in another. ive seen my 310 pound instructor be one of the most graceful people ive ever seen doing a crane style form. so it matters on your mind and what you can adapt yourself to do
  7. dude in my school for your first test you have to do two two minute rounds that are full contact with only gloves, no footwear or headgear
  8. wow thats high, i know a few 10th degrees personally
  9. lay off the kicks if they're screwing you up so much, practice more on drawing the opponent in with his on attack and control him with your lateral movements and that type of thing, then once you learn how to do this you can make your opponent do whatever you want him to do and be able to have the better shots
  10. they could be worth doing if you know what you are doing and are sure that you are going to land it in the correct spot in order to stop your opponent to a halt
  11. i think it has some really good blocks and stances from what ive seen but maybe not as a stand alone system to learn how to fight, i think it would enhance your fighting if you have previous experience
  12. it would really depend on how strong my fingers were, ive seen my instructor go through two unspaced boards likie they were butter, so it really would depend on the strength in my fingers.
  13. ill give ya love Zaine, i think you should do them all. if you want to do it then dont limit yourself with just one
  14. my school is part of the ICMAA (International Combative Martial Arts Association) good stuff
  15. i know that drunken boxing isnt, alot of systems have it in corporated
  16. your in goju ryu and you didn't know that, what rank are you
  17. i learn a mixture of matsamura seito and matsubayashi along with a few other arts
  18. i would call it a grappling system although ive never seen them take it to the ground before
  19. i would try my hardest to get them in either a mounted arm lock, or a side choke or rear naked choke. a armbar or something of that nature would be hard to lock with them being all sweaty
  20. shorin ryu, or most of the okinawan systems
  21. that sometimes happens to me after i missed a class or something likie that
  22. its really a mixed style of matsamura seito and matsubayashi shorin ryu, american kempo, and tae kwon do. and has some ground fighting incorporated. it is a very effective system. we're known to be one of the best schools in our area because of our abilities
  23. well i asked because my instructor is forming his own system based on israeli principle and a few other arts mixed with traditional shorin ryu, and is catching flack about from certain people. so i wanted to know everyones opinion about it
  24. traditional shorin ryu teaches nunchuku
  25. id have to say the bo, its not as pretty, but could you imagine taking the brunt of a strike from that bad boy. ouch
