  3. Yokozuna = The highest position on the banzuke or official listing of rank, the yokozuna are often referred to as the living symbols of sumo. Rikishi = Literally, "a gentleman of strength".

  6. That is correct. But you are talking about de professional sumo championship in Japan, The Makkuchi Divison of sumo. The rest of the world gets to fight in the Amateur Championships. In those champiopships sumo as 'evolved' because the matches are influenced by wrestlers that practice others MA such as Judo, Sambo, BJJ, and others. Thats is why amateur sumo is very strong in takedowns. Where is a link for more information: http://amateursumo.com/
  7. I truly believe that if you combine the super strong sumo takedown techniques, with high effective grappling ground manouvers, you become a monster.....
  8. Sumo is more than 2 huge guys pushing each other around. The techniques can be used in self-defense. Ckeck it-out for yourselfs: http://sumo.goo.ne.jp/eng/kimarite/index.html
  9. Parkour is very usual where in Europe, but is THE NEWEST SPORT TREND in France. There is a film about it, it's called 'Yamakazi'. And it's very good.
