  1. I would like to see the fan.....I have not yet.
  2. Nice! My dad was one of my first TKD instructors, my son (5) has just taken up the art. I hope to do a 3 generation form at a demo soon.
  3. I don't compete anymore, but I love judging and watching.
  4. Matters on the tourney you go to. The rules should be stated clearly and understood by most (if not all) of those in question, commpetetors and judges alike.
  5. Well, they are required to do all lower belt forms, 10 of them (ITF patterns) 5 - SD one-steps, board break 3 stations (Advanced techniques, jump reverse side kicks, jump kicks over partners) and sparring; one on one, two on one, three on one. That would be the actual testing...to be invited to test would include attitude, basic technique skill, time in rank and maturity. All to be determined in class. PM or Email me if this does not cover your question. -Adam
  6. You don't teach kids? Yea, that's a problem. Have you tried going thru a health club?
  7. You can do nothing besides point out your concerns with whoever is in charge. I would also say do not attend the tournements in which these problems might exist. And when you do not go, send a letter to whoever stating why........they might go the distance and work with you.
  8. I've studdied a little under GM Apho.
  9. At 5th Degree and above our tests tend to be behind the scenes. What we do in front of the testing pannel is just for show. When I'm invited to "test" for 6th Degree, I already know that I have passed. That is, unless I really screw up. We need to know all forms, one-steps, and be able to preform all board breaks up to our current level. We also need to spar multiple partners.
  10. No, I don't think so.
  11. That was much better. Even the music was a little better. What was with the ultra cheesy dancing mixed in with the great TKD moves......that kind of stuff kills me. Will someone please tell them that the apple on the knife trick is not that great when you are wearing shoes..........please? ROFL Thanks for sharing! I did enjoy some of the Hapkido/TKD mix.
  12. That was a bad vid......and I'm not laughing at you but with you. "TKD is very good" ROFL I love the soundtrack. How much Korean do you speak?
  13. White at special occations, Black for training.
  14. The message here TSD good, TKD bad? Kidding of course......
  15. Kung-fu has always been hard to read......
  16. That's only 10 months away.....I've heard of people training constantly for two years and a single belt level..... Now if the reason is to pad the tourney results, that's disshonorable and a shame. I would find a new school.
  17. ITF form Moon-Moo.......I love the tension kicks!
  18. I would find a higher rank/better sparrer, and get him to point out techniques/holes in your technique, etc. It sounds like your sparring partner is paying attention in your practices, and has found some holes that he can exploit. Work on some new things with a different partner, and don't show them to him before tournament day. Aodhan Yup, stop sparring him. I have a gent who I went thru the ranks with, point sparring him was either very boring or very exiting, but it would always be a low scoring match because we knew everything about each other. One day we started working with other people, the next thing I know, I'm sparring him at a tourney, and I have a big smelly foot in my face. He learned some new moves! Good luck.
  19. I've always like the comparison between Baseball and Taekwondo. In S. Korea TKd is as popular and holds the hearts and minds of the people like Baseball (or Football) in the US.
  20. Who was the author of that book? -Adam
  21. Mr. Green, good post. Let me soke it in......
  22. My primary is TKD everything else is extra, so I concider myself TMA.
  23. Part 6.....should be better than 5! Anyone here anything on the new Rambo movie? It would be part 4.
  24. Good Topic. I would say MMA is fine, but it's not what I am looking for in an MA. I'm TKD. I have holes in the SD portian of my chosen art. I fill them with Krav, Hapkido and Escrima. So the MMA thing does not effect me much.....what MMA does not have is philosophy. Or do they?
