  1. It is such a joke, how do people fall for this crap.
  2. Awesome, I know that feeling of being sore after a tournament.
  3. Don't worry about it, just remember to breath. You will love it, win or lose. Good luck.

  6. when they are back in stock these are great. http://www.rednoseusa.com/products/jj_gi/index.htm someone told me they are ATAMA they just have the rednose name on them, a few guys in our school have them and they look the same as ATAMA.
  7. http://www.bjj.com.au/eddie_bravo_twister.html Eddie Bravo with a Gi, wow we all know how he hates the Gi.
  8. I haven't seen it but I do like his DVD The Twister.
  9. Gustavo is amazing, go there. I have his instructional DVDs and they are sweet, they have taken my game up a notch.
  10. The mount is not an easy position, it take a lot of work to be proficient from it. You could go for an americana and if they pull away go with it and swing into an armbar. It also depends on Gi or no Gi.
  11. From side control, and yeah that move isn't that uncommon, more so in grappling tournaments
  12. I have three of his DVDs and I really think they have improved my game. I would love to train at his school.
  13. About BJ 2000 First non-Brazilian to win gold medal in black belt division of the Mundial World Championships held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
  14. no mario sperry stuff yet but a few guys I train with really like it, Roy Harris was up in Rochester NY recently doing a seminar. You know who you should look into is Fabio Gurgel, Gustavo Dantas and Joe Moriera
  15. I trained with Marcello Garcia for a week, and I would like to see that. Marcello is amazing.BJ Penn is on my 101 submissions vol.2
  16. He may not be full of it, I have heard similar stories
  17. That may be true, my friend belongs to Carlos Machado's school in Texas and he says that he goes into depth about everything, and will give you alternatives to something to suit your style.
  18. This is one of the fighters out of our school in Syracuse. Jordan is amazing, you can learn so much from him. This is his highlight reel http://jordandamon.com/video.htm
  19. You have to understand a lot of the UFC fighters do have MA's backrounds and what they have done is evolved and cut the fat. You say a martial artist would do fine if he learned how to defend the shoot and the ground game, hence he would have to know his opponent and adapt. Why is everyone so threatened by MMA fighters. Like elbows_and_knees said"because they are using what has worked time and time again." The UFC was set up to pit martial artist against martial artist and if you watch the early ones the Kung Fu and TKD guys lost, their style didn't stand up against some of the best fighters. That isn't to knock those styles it is just a fact.
  20. A Muay Thai kick comes down at a downward angle with the shin
  21. Hey Go To Sleep, what is the name of the school you are going to?, and what is the teachers name?
  22. Here is how I look at it, you can be very explosive with or without the Gi. With the Gi it is a different game because you have collars, pant legs, sleeves to grab, you can use the guys own Gi to choke him out. I find that I move faster without the Gi(obviously) but because I train 3days a week with it and 3days no Gi. No Gi you really need solid technique, because you are dealing with a sweaty opponent so you really need control and quickness.I don't think strength is a huge part because the whole thing wtht BJJ and Sub-fighting is attacking the weak joint or one limp. So a 155lbs guy can tap out a 205lbs who is much stronger. The 155lbs guy may get an arm drag, throw one hook in and get his back and finish with a RNC or just control him by taking his back.
  23. So is breaking boards a way of strengthening your striking power and improving your striking technique. Could you explain how it improves your technique?
