i honestly think taiji can be an effective fighting system ive sparred with a guy who uses it. And before looking for the so called ultimate self defense martial art you should remeber that its not the art that makes you a good fighter but if you can actually apply it. if you go into a fight thinking you have the ultimate art youll lose and never progress in the martial arts also i read an article that in fact 30% of streets fight go to the ground cause most end with the first punch i know in New York thats true cause when you fight one person here you are actually fighting 5 and its hard to fight 5 people on the ground esspecially when you have weapons, dont get mw wrong think ground fighting is important be prepared for anything

why everyone hates Taekwondo
Anbu Alex replied to white belt's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
TKD does get a bad rap and ill admit it I mayself added to it from my previous experiences. Like ant other martial art TkD can work or cannot it dependes on if its the right art for this person or not and it can be used in a real fight you dont HAVE TO kick high you can apply that with lower faster kicks to the mid section or legs its dependes really if the erson who takes the art can translate it in a real life situation. -

Ignorance of Western Martial Arts
Anbu Alex replied to UseoForce's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I think its also the media that plays a factor in the Lack of information of western martial arts. Cause the media generalizes martial arts as an Asian invention but forgot got the west has its own cause the asian martial arts are more marketable, Ill will admit i was ignorant of western Martial arts untill i watch the history channel where they showed Midivel weapons and unarmed combat and also in a near by park i saw some guys practicing with the european broadsword -
What is Ninjitsu?
Anbu Alex replied to TKDguy's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Ive only been in Bujinkan Taijutsu for 7months so im not the end all of be to ask about this subject but basically alot of the traditions in the art that are originally from from china and were made and improved in japan for the years of civil wars, some of which modern japanese martial arts are based on from my experience it is a complete system but its not for everyone i think its an awasome art but there is no such thing as an unstoppable art but it gives you a different approch to combat -
Upping the speed to a realistic situation.
Anbu Alex replied to Ryokeen's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
It may also be the fact that its just an advance move that really needs to be trained alot more so it becomes a reflex to use cause in fast paced real life situations the basics are wat you are mostly going to use cause they are effective also a good way to develop speed is to go to a hand ball court stand faily close to a wall and hit the ball and try not to let it drop this will help develop eye speed and reflex -
because i know in kung fu iron Palm one method of training is that the make a stew sort if of herbs and they are made to do Chi Kung exercses while placeing their hands in it

how do you bring down someone bigger than yourself?
Anbu Alex replied to Ryan gry's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Go for soft easy to grab stuff like the ears ribs there an area on the inside of the thigh that hurt no matter how big you are you can grab that and use his size to your advantage keep distance and make him waste energy trying to catch you with his mass
