  1. Out of curiosity, how many hours a week do you train? I do six hours. Which equals two hours, three times a week.
  2. So no one will hurt me or mine. If that means striking the offensive before being attacked, I will do my best, if it means striking even a potential abuser, so be it. And then for exercise, disipline, confidence, fun.
  3. I just checked the spelling and it is "Naihanchin", so I dunno." My sensai says that it means something like 'sideways fighting'
  4. I choose my dojo partly because it trained outdoors and in a school gym and did not have a really fancy building and lots of equipment. I find that when training in places that have lots of equipment which the instructors try to use all the time, a lot more time is spent just setting it up, rotating in between it, etc., while if there is less, more time is spent doing stuff and it is sometimes actually harder. Plus I loverunning hills.
  5. Out of curiosity, is anyone here immune to the stuff that mosquitoes inject into your body to stop you feeling them when they bite you? By this I mean that when bitten, you do not get an itchy bump at all, or only get a small red mark that looks like a pin prick, which disapears quickly. I have realized that as if this spring, I seem to be immune. The only other person I know that has this is my father, who stopped a few years ago. It is nice, I guess, but I don't know why it happened, and I can't find anything on the internet about it.
  6. I love Sweatshop Union. They aren't a big deal, but they sing so well and their songs are really meaningful.
  7. The way my sensai teaches kata, it is like there is a person there, making you do the moves, which makes sense. Although I like kumite because then there actually is someone there to look at.
  8. Nohunchin (sp?) I did Sanchin right before.
  9. Thank you for welcomes, nice to meet you. I know elder Futhark (the one used by the germanic tribes) really well and some parts of the variation ones used by other cultures. I know about half, i think, of the Ogham, which was used by the druids. I was also doing Theban script, but I abandoned it because the 'letters' are too elaborate, and all look really similar. I haven't had much time to learn any more in the recent past, but now that school is done I want to learn the Gothic alphabet, because it is relatively simple, but still elegant, plus, it related to the runes, the latin, and greek alphabets. Anyway, see you around, I guess.
  10. Plus there is a smaller chance of being botched.
  11. Hello, Darkness here. I am new posting to this forum (been hanging around a few days). I have been doing karate for about two monthes and it has definately become my new second favorite sport. (Cross country skiing is #1) I am sixteen years old and a girl. Other intersts include surfing the internet, reading, politics, European history and learning ancient alphabets and scripts. peace....out
  12. I would ask for a knife so I could kill myself instead of having someone else do it.
  13. Mostly the reason I started karate was because I wanted a sport to do when I wasn't doing cross country skiing. I tried other sports(basketball, track and field, kayaking) but they just didn't cut it for me. I decided to try karate in particular because I thought that even if I didn't stick with it I might as least pick up a bit on how to defend myself (which I have, LOL I hadn't even thrown a punch ever before
  14. Do people still actually use stav fighting? I have heard of it, but I thought it was obsolete.
  15. yellow belt, karate
  16. Yes, there is only one other woman and I show up far oftener than she does.
  17. Against the average male my age, yes.
