Yellow Belt

Yellow Belt (2/10)

  1. I train karate three times a week, and MMA for two times a week. And I have started to do some weightlifting six times a week in mornings.
  2. Just a week a go I read in finnish newspaper that one dude kicked his opponent in the head while fighting in the streets. Ive also heard about few fights when the fight ended cause of the high kick in the face. But, you perhaps win the fight in the street, but you lose it in the court.
  3. 7 is the agelimit here. There are own groups for kids aged 7-10 and 10-12. They mostly train kihon and kata (not bunkai). So they can do the basic things pretty well when they join the adultgroup.
  4. When you are in great shape you can take more damage than norman guy. About a year ago I punched (with almoust all of my power) one brown belt karateka in training and he just asked me to punch little harder. He is in great shape and he has an amazing paintolerance
  5. Maybe in WKF rules kumite women can be better than men since it is more of a speed and reflects sparring, but when sparring with full contact men are a lot better than women, I have never seen a woman beating man in Boogutsukikumite.
  6. Shorinjiryu RenShinKan karate-do is the style what I practise.
  7. Eat normal food, dont eat candies, dont drink soda`s. Just train hard and you will lose some weight quite fast. Since you are only 16 you should eat normally. No hamburgers and pizza`s, homefood is the best. Ive lost quite much weight just by dropping unhealthy food from my personal menu. Still, losing weight should be done by training hard, not by eating not enough.
  8. I use a lot of sokutogeri, and it is probably considered as my trademark technique. Atleast my clubfellows would say that it is my trademark technique. I have suprised few more skillfull karate-ka`s when doing kumite with my sokutogeri.
  9. That looks like a sokutogeri to me. It is a sidekick with a great power on it.
  10. Now it`s summer so I go once in a week to train karate. I got now more time to train with weights and for jogging. I should be in great shape in autumn
  11. My name wasnt in the database. So I must be anonymous in hawaii
  12. In karate we train with knives, in kobudo people train with Bo, Jo, Tonfa, bokken, nunchaku and some other weapons. Karate and kobudo are trained in same club, and same people are involved. If you want to defend yourself against weapons, you must know how to use them, and how they work.
  13. I have never been sick on testing. But I swet like hell in last testing. My hands shaked so much that writing was very hard and my swet flooded in to the paper that contained the writing part of the test. But I made it and I were proud of myself.
  14. Ive heard that there is one bo kata in shorinjiryu renshinkan, the name is tokumine no kon. But I have never trained it. In Finland we train okinawan kobujutsu which includes kata`s but I havent really focused on that. Ilpo Jalamo is the name of the sensei who is teaching that in Finland. Jussi probably knows a lot more than I do.
  15. Karate in olympics, never. Sportkarate in olympics, maybe.
