well maybe you saw it at the movie theaters,I heard they didn't have dubbing or sub titles. In the dvd they have both dubbing and subtitles. That was a great movie, one of the best ive seen. the only problem, I saw it in some asian language so I was stuck trying to figure out the story line. -

yet we post everytime this debate comes uprather, the same MMA debate I've seen a million other threads... -
is that another style , or another name for shorin ryu?

I had forgotten all about non tournament martial arts games. Now that I think about it,theres the Onimusha series.

lol, yeah, that's the first time I've ever heard of a sword beating a handgunThats fine thats still the funniest thing ive ever heard -
well look at emin boztepe,he's very well conditioned and younger than william cheung. Also all styles have weaknesses, you even pointed out your styles weaknesses, and those are more than what wing chun has. Then the reason you don't see chinese martial arts being used in the ufc is because chinese martial arts don't train for sport for the most part.Well if you want to see chinese martial arts in sport atmosphere look at Jason Delucia and Cung Le,these are top notch fighters.By the way Jason Delucia is a member of this website, feel free to insult the style he has dedicated his life to.

I see,it makes sense. Some guy once told me it was because you need more oxygen in your muscles.

I have to disagree with you on saying that most chinese martial arts are useless.A lot of other styles came from chinese martial arts. You know why, because theyre great styles. There are a lot of showy movements in them, but they have hidden meanings behind them. Also theres some that have no fancy looking techniques, just look at wing chun.Speaking of wing chun,it's ancient and look how effective it is.Some of the police in europe are even required to learn it.You also have to be clear when you say that chinese martial arts are flashy.Because it's usually the northern styles that have those things, even then they still work great. Then there are the southern styles. These styles are usually close quarters styles with low kicks and some times barely any kicks. There's even a style that you can probably relate to.It's called San Da/San shou. This style is very similar to kickboxing, except that sweeps and throws are allowed,it's also full contact.Sure movies and games make it look showy, but that goes for any style.I'm not writing this to talk mess to you, just show you theres more to chinese martial arts than you think there is.You should look more into chinese martial arts to find out before you post something like that.

tekken is pretty addictive.Hey you should check out this game

all martial arts are aimed for self defense, unless it's XMA

yeah I've noticed some of the people where I train don't work well if I'm actually using force
-
we should , but this has turned into a good conversation

lol,I'm proud too.Anyways I just remembered ,it was a convenience store for a gas station,not a bank.Sorry

yeah muscular guys do get slower, why is that?Goju's right. I know swimmers and joggers who love the stuff because it helps their performance. They aren't concerned with increasing muscle mass.As for Kaju.. yea, exactly. Bodybuilders are not martial artists, and couldn't be good ones with those builds. Muscles are important, specifically strength. While no one questions that a bodybuilder is strong, they train primarily for size, not strength. Not to mention how slow they become.

also,I think that shorinji kempo is like a religion(not sure on that).

well if you look at previous topics, you will see that ong bak is one of the greatest martial arts movies of all time.

I yearn to learn

I had a friend in high school that could do that, but then agin she was a dancer , so that explains her extreme flexability

in other words watching a sparring match?demo's are designed around a compliant partner working with you. So of course some one is going to look good doing the demo.Better off watching them live against some one who is resistaing and trying to fight back and see how well they make there techniques work.
That will give you more insight then watching the demo.

"Purposely making a system or form "elegant" is a TRAVESTY to martial arts IMO."
a good example of that is that XtremeMartualArts stuff.

hey i just remembered. Some time ago I was watching the news and they showed a bank robbery.Well in the clip , some guy comes in with a gun trying to steal some money, but the cashier takes out his katana and starts chasing him with it.The robber just went and ran away from that man. Hmmm good times
well it is that time of the year again...

summer was ok,and I am glad to be back.Because in college I get to come late and leave early everyday,(well not really, but that's how it looks like compared to my high school schedule). Also the classes are pretty fun so far,and college has tons of hot chicks.
