Karate Kid marathon!!!
psychospaz replied to ShotokanKen's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
Daniel deserves to get beat up in about every situation that he does in. -
haha, how about we see you vs bob sapp then in a k1 or pride match. u seen his fights with hoost and minotauro and other top fighters. He can get hurt but holds his own with top level guys.
-
Hmm, I prefer watching the HW guys. They have so much more power at their disposal, and I can relate to them better since I'm around that size. Also the next PRIDE card is stacked as hell and recommend everyone to watch it.

I would think that you would more have to think about the general type of move, which training has made automatic through practice, and then do it. It is instinctive in that you don't have to lumber mentally through the entire process. This is already programmed into, as combos can be as well. This way when I mean to block, I block, and when I want to kick, I kick. No extra steps are taken, as it is all done immediately and the most efficient way; as practiced. However, i can still change my plan, and my combinations at will. At least thats what my experience has been, although I am not a street fighter. I guess it also comes down to the style of the fighter. Some people do well with instinctive fighting, and doing whatever comes naturally. Some can plan out what will be effective and immediately do it. Most others are somewhere in between I would surmise.

Does starting traditional and then starting MMA whilst continuing tradtional arts count? -
What's consider4ed self defense?
psychospaz replied to BKJ1216's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
please ask again, but this time, a tad more vague -
Yeah. a lot of people feel that these online communities play a big part in their understanding and drive in martial arts, so they want to give back and share their accomplishments with those they feel are their peers and teachers.

Aikido vs. Hard Styles
psychospaz replied to ronpo's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
Hmm, I would advise the practitioner to train in something practical and easy to learn/use first, so that while learning Aikido, they can defend themselves. Of course, if they're not worried about getting into fights for the time being, they need not waste precious training time on something they are't going to be using. -
Where? What do you have for equiptment and rings etc? Who all is fighting? Do you have refs who know what they're doing?

black belt in aikido
psychospaz replied to PhilM1's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
learning depends on the teacher-student combo. If you have an awesome teacher and a student who understands concepts, is athletically gifted, has a strong drive to accel in the art, and practices most every day, then why should it take a long time? -
Writing in all caps both makes your thread easier to read, but it also makes you seem more intelligent. Thank you. Also, I would think that knowing how to use something like BJJ or anything else would be good. You could use your knife when you want, but if unarmed, you could know how to position for a break or choke if needed. Overall, the positioning is nice to understand, for most all CQB engagements. Just because BJJ is practiced unarmed, doesn't mean that you couldn't apply most of it with weapons.

A great form of Grappling...
psychospaz replied to craknek's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
craknek, can you give a link or something to the unofficial match info? -
Hmm, my feet and toes are fine aesthetically and I can run on concrete barefoot normally due to conditioning of my feet.
