  1. There's a Martial Arts movie marathon on tomorrow (Sunday, March 20th) on the FX channel.
  2. So-called Christians are doing this to you? They are not Christians with attitudes like that! Are they not realizing the some CHristians practice martial arts, like me? I will stand--er, sit--her today and proudly say I am a commited Christian and a black belt Karate student in the same body.
  3. Thanks for that! Perfect timing too! I'm just about to have my first weapons tournament in a few weeks. Very nervous!
  4. "It's dangerous buisness going out your front door" ----J.R.R Tolkien "All that glitters is not gold; all who wander are not lost." ---J.R.R Tolkien
  5. It's a Kodak moment.
  6. ICE! Lots of ice! And I know because I've had these too. Hate them. Put ice on it and keep active.
  7. I'm a christian and I agree with the poster who said they don't allow Karate and Faith to cross paths. I go to church, my Youth Group on Wednesdays, and then I have Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Sat Karate practices. I have bible studies with my friends and I exercise and practice Karate moves. My sensei is big on breathing techniques, so we have 15 min in the beginning of our private session where he and I practice breathing control methods. So very close to meditation. Those are the opinions of the webmaster. I have no problem being a Christian Martial Artist. I'm proud of it actually. But I'd never let to two mix.
  8. I'm a christian. I have been in Karate since....oh, um, a very long time.
  9. Well, I'm sure they wouldn't stand there and leave me to fend for myself, but I have 5 really close friends and one best friends who I am joined to the hip with, but only my one best friend cares that I'm in Karate. The other four were like "yeah, uh, cool" but my best friend comes to all my tournaments and came to the hospital....best buddies, she's a cool person.
  10. ooooo!! Yeah! Anybody else here think Dakota Fanning is a great young actress? I loved I am Sam (tear tear!)
  11. http://www.karatedepot.com/
  12. Welcome! Hope you get to do that hike soon!
  13. Nobody's making fun of anyone I was creeped out when Mr. Rivers was in that guy's house and the lights flashed and you could see the 3 ghost dudes...scared me. I almost jumped 10 feet because the music was the perfect type and arrived at the perfect time.
  14. Already made him proud when I continued to fight after my knee was shattered. He told me that I shouldn't, but he said my decision was my decision. I won that match.
  15. Anybody else seen the movie White Noise, with that one guy from Mr. Mom? Micheal Keaton I think. Pretty weird. I liked it though. But I can't really sit still for a long time--I get restless unless I'm reading...I love reading. What did you think of the movie?
  16. No, sorry, but my best friend does...and we have to trust her because she is the horse person of both of us. I'm the Karate person, she's the horse person, but we're best friends. She tried Karate once, but it wasn't her cup of tea. I have always loved horses and riding, so she had no problems. She says they're pretty good.
  17. What was the worst injury you recieved during a tournament?
  18. Anybody else here have a private teacher? I was just wondering because I do. Well, you see he had been teaching at a regular school, but that school burnt down a year before I was born. And I went looking for lessons and he told me that he would teach me. I thought it was great, but then I remember we had little money, so I told him that and declined. He told me that he would train me for free, but ONLY if I promised never to give up. He's a cool guy--very smart. I'm his only student. He hasn't taught since the fire, so about 14 or 15 years, but he practiced on his own everyday. So I was wondering if anyone else had a private teacher.
  19. Don't worry about getting knocked out because it ruins focus, or so sensei tells me and I always listen to him. Focus on defending yourself so that you don't get knocked out, but don't actually think about getting knocked out. Does that make sense?
  20. Hey! Cool! Yeah, I prefer Western, but I'm OK at English. I am so bad at Dressage that it isn't even funny and I can't stand side-saddle. I've been in a few comp. but I'm too busy with Karate. One time I had to decide whether I wanted to fight for my black belt or ride for this charity thing; I'm big on charity stuff, but I'm under 18, so I can't donate technically, which I hate. So riding in a charity sponsor would have been good for my heart. But I ended up getting my black belt. I was eight when I got started, so four (almost 5) years later, I'm a black belt. Karate is my life.
  21. And they like homemade things too. Quite a few months ago, on my sensei's birthday, I gave him this really nice cross-stitch cloth design that I'd started about 2 months before his birthday. He liked it. He framed it and keeps it on the wall where TONS of people can see it.
  22. Hey! A horse question! Right up one of three of my alleys I don't have synthetic saddle, but Thorogood is a good name. So I think you're in good hands.
