Im 16 i do Jeet Kune Do and i am taking my first test in 2 weeks time.

would a 15 count drill be classed as a kata?

What did anyone think of mine? (its on the first page)

Hello a quick question. Can someone explain to me what a Kata is? Is it like a drill? Or are certain moves katas? But please try and keep it in lamence terms for me thnx .

Ahh i normally say Thnx. I had this lad compliment the strength behind my kicks i was so flattered. I thought you he is right i could easily break someone's knee with this kick. j/k.

I also think JKD is very well rounded. I can't see any major weaknessess to it. For example Judo is really good for grappling but not as good in the punching kicking department (hope i don't get a load of Judo people on my back now)

Well the way i see JKd is, Jeet Kune Do is basically all the parts of martial arts BL studied that worked best for him. He name it Jeet Kune Do "Way of the intercepting fist". When i take classes in JKD i am taught what BL thought worked best for him. So i am learning what a great martial artist thought worked best for HIM. I then can only pick out the bits of JKD which work for me and discard the rest like he did. I wouldn't consider this to be MY JKD as it is still what BL had chosen.

Right, all those people telling him its a bad idea and that he should walk away are right. But i don't think he is going to. I would try and talk it out but if you have to fight fight until you win, don't take it further beating your opponent to a bloody pulp. Disarm the fight in an effective way but don't get carried away. If he is on the floor not doing anything walk away. If he runs don't chase him down and then beating him to the floor. Also i think really you shouldn't through the first "punch" because then you are acting technically in self defence.

Ye i see where you are coming from. Ill tell me english teacher that about the title muwhahaha show him up lol. I also think lennie's huge physical presence attributed to him killing things, Forest Gump hasn't much of a beast like Lennie. But i think Lennie was even more mentally disfunctional then Forest. I don't think there is a Forest Gump book i just assumed with you talking about Gump i thought there was a book.

well i haven't read forest gump (seen the film) but i have read Of Mice and Men. I am currently doing the book for my GCSE so i could go off into an essay on it but i wont. True Lennie's downfall is his lack of understanding, he totally relies on George for everything. But what i think is scary about Lennie is that on one hand he is like a big cuddily bear, and then the next thing you know he is killing things but he always has good intentions. What i have only just figured out though is the meaning of the title, Of Mice and Men. I think it means that Lennie starts of by killing a mouse and then progressively onto a human.

Originally created by Bruce Lee i myself am from a Bruce Lee Lineage. JKD teaches how to fight in each of the 4 ranges kicking, punching, trapping and grappling. What you learn varys from dojo to dojo but mainly it is a blend of many martial arts that Bruce Lee thought worked best for him. For me i learn: Majapahit Martial Arts, Filipino Martial Arts, Grappling, Panantukan, Jun Fan Martial Arts, JKD, Kali, Silat, Boxing, Muay Thai, Wing Chun, Panajakman. JKD teaches you how to defend yourself. We also learn groin kicks elbow breaks and other "dirty" techniques. We don't really learn many fancy flying double back flipping hand stand rolling kicks that most likely wouldn't work in a real situation. Everything we learn is pratical. Nearly forgot we also do stick work.

The key game is good for senses, but i have played that at birthday parties too. How about a survival game, 1 guy is left and the others have to attack him and if he can take you all on he wins. Sounds a bit like the other suggested but it could be cool.

I know of no traditions in my school, i feel like we should have one. But then again i have not been to an award ceremony yet so...ill see.

lol, i have my dad's irvory handle knife near me, Loverly its really nice. Also a 3 ft stick in my mum's room that i could always go for . I got a nice Smith and western, BB gun . Bloody gun laws in Britain ey.

When you say destroy people can you elaborate on how you destroy someone? Do you mean it involves groin kicks, headbuttsand so on?
