It's so interesting how religion can cause such deep divides. I have grown up in a majority Catholic country haveing Catholicism rammed down my throat from an early age and I am not going to claim I can quote from the Bible but as I remember it the Bible says we should not worship false Gods etc... Personally I think there is nothing wrong with a respectful bow both entering or leaving the Dojo. At the start and end of class me kneel and on the command the Sensei bows to the class and the class bows to the Sensei...OUT OF RESPECT..not some wild obsessed religious cult!! As for meditating I can't see how that is related to religion unless you treat it that way, and if you do why not channel it to your beliefs. I do have to say TKD that you have been exceptionally disrespectful and to Doug and Iron. This is a forum for sharing our ideas and interpretations on subjects. I don't feel calling someone and idiot and ridiculling their beliefs is needed here, the Christian Crusades ended a long long time ago. A good kickboxer should be able to win out on this one in the same weight catagory. The kickboxer should have all the hand shots and blocks that the boxer has and then has the added advantage of wearing him down with kicks.

I have a similar problem, think what I'm doing in English and then try to apply the correct terminology..really helps me to screw thinkgs up.

There are alot of clubs like this that are only there for the competition circuit, great for sparring but not much else!

Gun defences..please tell more. Also how do you know if someone is actually going to pull the trigger? It's just like with a knife, how do you know they are actually going to try to stabb you??

Very good posting Yoda. I tend to agree with your realities. Most knife attacks do come from behind. Another reality is that if the attack does come from the front and you do decide to try to disarm the attacker you will most likly get cut..I learned that the hard way. I would agree that handing over the watch, or wallet is the best option, life is more valuble. In a rape situation...I really don't know what to advise unless you are a strong ground fighter. If the attacker gets you to the ground he has to keep you quiet, open the clothing and so on all with one hand...evven with this I may be very wrong.

Allow hand shots to the face with control..draw blood or knock out and you get disqualified.
