  1. http://www.fightingart.ca/dojo/dojo.ved.htm i will also be checkin this one out, and most likely will join this over the other one.
  2. http://www.karatekyokushincollingwood.com/ head instructor: Laszlo Antal some info about it: http://www.kyokushin.ca/dojos/vancouver_collingwood.html what do you guys think about this school? I think im gonna go check it out.
  3. I live near Lougheed Mall in Burnaby, on Forest Grove Dr. If someone would be able to give me some good kyokushin schools that are releatively close i would be VERY greatful. I'm looking for good hard training that will make my body fast/strong and able to fight effectively on the street or in a ring. all help is appreciated.
  4. how well does it do? I have been interested in this style but have been told by a number of people that it is not that great of a karate style, compared to Shotokan for example. They say it is not as "complete" so to speak, and it focuses alot on stuff like breakin bricks/boards (which im not to interested in). I tried telling him (my dad) that it focuses on rea live fighting alot, but the fact is i lack alot of information about this style to really speak on it. can anyone with some knowledge pelase tell him how good it is compared to other karate styles, how well it does in tournaments (maybe standings/statistics can be procided). Is it a complete style/able to deal with grappling/long range/and short range? (I kno shotokan is). etc.. any and all help is graetly appreciated.
  5. welli ts not really mixed. Its mon wed we work on wing chun, tues thurs we work on kickboxing. btw, his name is Sifu Fred Kwok.
  6. I will most likely eitehr be joining Kyokushin Karate or a Wing Chun / Kickboxing school. My question to you guys is what do you think of this mix? Would it work well? Do you think it would eliminate the long range weaknesses of Wing Chun? I'm really concerned because I'm interested in joining tournament competition in the future and would like this to suffice. Does anyone know much about the Tigerbalm competitions, because aparently my sifu who is teaching this wing chun/kickboxing has won multiple tigerbalm championships. I have been at thsi school before and have seen the training. I will try to summerize it for you so you can tell me whether or not this is a good idea. The way he tells us to fight is basically like this. Circle the opponent by strafing and such, go in jab and retract and move out, and basically pull combos and stuff like taht. Keep in mind what im sayin is the VERY BASICS of wat i saw in a few weeks or so there. Does this sound like proper wing chun methodology? Thanks for any and all help.
  7. how does it? I'm planning to join it, but i'm curious as to whether or not it works well vs other martial arts. I have been somewhat hesitant because i realize it has barely any kicks and is mainly mid-close range. I thought this could be a problem when fighting vs styles like Karate and Muay Thai. Does anyone have any experience vs Wing Chun fighters, or stats from tournaments, or even videos. Thanks alot for any input.

  9. one more thing i have to add is that the Sifu is a Wing Chun master, but he somewhat combines it with Kick Boxing, because he feels that Wing Chun lacks the kicks so we train Kickboxing kicks. Its basically Mon, Wed Wing Chun and tues, Thurs Kickboxing. I'd like some comments on that aswell, thanks.
  10. I have trained with this Sifu before for a couple months, I have heard good things about him and he seems like he knows wat he is doing. But when i compare his accuracy and current ability to one of my previous sifu's in shaolin hungar (Sifu Stephen Chang) it seems like Sifu Fred Kwok (the wing chun sifu) isnt on the same level. I could be very wrong about this, but I'd like some comments because i noticed that there are some very knowledgable people on this forum so i figure its a good place to ask. Drunken Monkey, maybe you know something about Sifu Fred Kwok. We are located in Vancouver, B.C. Thanks for any help, I'm just worried because I know there are alot of fake schools, or crappy ones who teach wrong and maybe dont even know the concepts themselves.
