Ok, i was wanting to know if it was physically possible to be flexible enough to (while standing) lift one leg basically parallel to your body and keep your foot flat. What i mean is...if anyone ever watched Ranma (no flames, no flames...i know most of the stuff is totally fake) then in on part he lifted his leg straight up like i was describing and then balanced a plate on his foot sincei t was flat. i was sitting here thinking about it and it's been bugging me weither or not that was physically possible. thanks

Hey, i was wondering if there are any books that someone could suggest that teaches you martial arts. (videos to). wooo...now, calm down. put the lighter and gasoline away and hold off on flaming unti lyou finish reading. I am interested in martial arts (have yet to choose exactly which i will by doing) and i'm wanting to get started. Now, due to a recent experience with a Kenpo school, i'm wary of schools in my area. Non of them teach martial arts in a...how could i put it....correct way. Sparring was non existent in that school i went to and minimal in others. Ok...so maybe they want to deal with the mind side of it instead? nope. no meditation or anything like that. All it was is stand up, they show you a few moves and you practice those few moves over and over and over. Do they ever get put into practical use? Nope. no combos or anything. So, i am now on a quest to teach myself until i can find a school good enough worth going to. I figure i might not be able to teach the moves as easily as a teacher could but i know i'll be able to teach the patients and mind side better then anyone else around my area. So, i'm just wondering if there are any good books or videos that could help me do this. thank you....and now, if you still feel the need..........LET IT BURN

i have abody bag that i love. i have a really good punch but i would like to develope it more and get stamina up (and possibly gain larger muscles). inorder to do this,i knbow i have to lift wiehgt ubt how should i use my bag. one bodybuilder/boxer said that he would do 3 5 min. rounds on it. what does he probably mean by that? sopme thing like *punch* 1 second *punch* 2 seconds *punch* 3 secounds or *punch punch punch* 1...2... *punch punch punch* 3....4....*punch punch punch* or just does he mean going at it fully (which would be crazy hard) *punch punch punch punch punch punch punch punch punch punch punch * any thoughts?

has anyone triend the supplement Xyience XFB AM? its supposed to give you energy but also suppose to really help you loose weight. i'm in the process of loosing weight right now and i'm getting pretty good and think that a kick like this will make me have 6 packs by summer. i want to trust it because it sponsors UFC and i herd some of the fighters use it but i want to make sure ($40). also, i heard it has 120 tablets, how long will that last? but anyways, has anyone tried it? i don't really care abotu the energy thing and the decrese in appitite would be nice but i'm really wanting to know if it will help loose the weight faster (i know, i still have to work out. i run everyday). so, anyone have any comments? thanks alot

ok, i'm trying to get 'ripped'. i have good strength and all and pretty good size but now i just want to get like a rock. so, i heard that a real good way to get solid in your chest is to go to steps and like gte into push up postion with your feet on the floor and your arms on the steps so you can do them easily. then i heard you do like 120 until your arms are dead and ten you rest for 30 mins (thats when the fat burns i was told) and then do it again. is this true or should i just stick to benching?

ok...i work out, well i try for everyday. i do arms upper body one day, lower the next. abs everday and cardio everyday. my routine for upper body is benching- 70 lbs 15 wide grip, 15 close, 15 wide, 15 close curling- back aginst the wall. both arms curling 40 20 times, then 10 more pull down (sit on my bench, grab the double handle and pull it down....its part of the bench) 3 reps of 20 or more then someitmes little misc. things lower body squats and leg lifts mainly. i don't work them to hard cause i do cardio every day and that works my legs. cardio i was doing 30 mins on the bike but now i switched to running (got a tred mill.....woot) and i haven't exactly picked a routine for running yet....what a good one for a beginer runner for loosing weight? anyways, i was wanting to know an estimate for how long until i get solid. mianly no gut. 'm 5'8 1/2" and 165lbs. i'm kinda fit but i do have a gut, not a huge one though. i know you can't give me exact cause 1) you don't know what i look like 2) don't know body fat composition 3) everyone is different but can anyone give me an estimate? 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, one year? (year's a little extreme but you get the idea ) also, i'm doing this for Karate so if anyone wants to mkae any changes from my routine that will make me more solid (i have enough size, i just want to get solid and ripped) then it will be appreciated. thanks

like he said, the master believed it was actualyl energy in you. you'll hear about some people who do somthing called *can't remember* akido i think it is and they actually think that they can harness the "chi" and shoot it, dragon ball z style. make shields, energy blasts and the like. its funny to read but i think its pretty stupid cause no one can do this.

i agree with someone up above that said for you to take interest in his stuff. make it seem like his TKD is far more important and cooler then you style. whats probably happened is he wants to be jut like his dad and he thinks that maybe since you don't do TKD, that its not good or cool enough. make him think other wise. make a big deal out of simple moves that he does and try to get him to "teach" you the moves to. saying that you'd like to learn it. hope this helps.

i would say start off with gloves/wrapping first. it conditioned my wrists real quickly so know i can punch the bag as hard as i can and it doesn't hurt. also, hitting a bag is alot different then hitting a human. alot of human areas are soft and, the main thing, humans stand. when you hit your bag hard you will notice, if hit in the middle, the bottom will swing out, then the top, and repeated real fast. if you hit the top then it swings wildly. when you punch a human, it feels like more of a conection and your hits actually do more damage. trust me, the bag will deffinitly give you power

Ok, heres what happened. this guy in my class challenged me to body boxing. i said no not in school and then he said how bout just trading punches in the arm and so i agreed. backround info. me and this guy are about the same size. he does body boxing and stuff with his friends sometimes and stuff like that and just usually lets people hit him. i think he's also a bit sadomasicist (enjoys pain) and him and his friends took a guitar sting and kept hitting each other and each hit made a cut. so, hes good with pain. well, he told me to go first.i cocked back and didn't step into it but just punched. all of a sudden his eyes got kinda big and he was like "s--t....holy s--t....i'm done, you win. that f---ing hurt. you swing like f---ing Mike Tyson." then a guy watching was like "lol, whats wrong?" nad he was like "he swings like f---ing mike tyson." and it went on like that for about a min and he stoped cause we had to leave class....about 3 days later i let him get a hit in cause i wanted to see how he could hit....it didn't really hurt., like he said his arm went dead but mine, it just kinda had a buzz for a few seconds then i didn't even feel it. now, my question is, are you born with a "good" punch. this guy is lifting wise stronger then me. i'm not weak or anything but like when i lift, i do it for getting cut and endurance. he does it for getting big. like he does 192 for max on bench. i don't know my max but its not that. i told my dad and him, being a real good fighter (my dad is) said that you have to be born with a good punch, and that i must have been born with it. he said it like that cause i never learned a technique for punching, i was just born kinda knowing it. so , what do you think. i know you can learn how to punch but, do you think some people are just born with a better punch?

alrighty, thanks. incase anyone was wondering, i remembered the style. it is Yin Chuan School of the Dragon..... like i said, it teaches Kenpo karate, and some ju-jitsu and judo. anyone ever hear of this style? if so, is it any good?
-
OK, im getting ready for kenpo karate. its mainly that but it also teaches judo and ju-jitsu along the way. i'm in pretty shape but not the best so i was gonig to wait until i was in peak condition to start. my dad says that its also exercise along the way in karate and that it will get me in top shape so i should start now. what do you think? start now or wait till peak lvl.

1) i would liek to congradulate you on your bag. it is my favorite work out equipment. not, i 'm not in karate yet (getting ready to be in a few weeks) but i do workout and the bag has helped greatly. first, i would recommend getting wrist wrapps or wrsit gloves. that way you can punch alot and not hurt your wrist. after a week or 2 your hands will get use to it and now i don't wear gloves usually. for its limitations, it won't really get you "stronger" meaning it won't let you be able to bench 250 if all you do is the bag. saying that, it gets you strong fight wise. what i mean by this is your punch will be great. i just found this out lol. i thought my punch was just liek a normal guys and i do the bag alot though. so i figured it didn't really improve my punch. this guy i know wanted to trade arm hits as hard as we can so i agreed and he told me to go first. backround, this guy always lets other guys hit him. him and his friends broke off a guitar string by accident and kept hitting each other with it and it kept cutting them. so usually ihe can take a hit. i didn't even step into it and as soon as i hit him he was like "holy s--t" and started rubbing his arm. he was like,"screw this i quite" and the other guy watching was like "whats wrong?" and he was like "he swings like fu--ing mike tyson" and it went on like that for a few mins. so, while your not going to be showing off in the gym, this will be a god send for your punches. have fun and good luck.

hey, i've seen a picture of someone doing this and my old tech teacher said that he used to be able to. its where you actually run up the wall for a few feet. one guy i saw a pic of was like 10 ft and then did a backflip. is this possible and if so how? also, can anyone give me a mini guide of how to do a kip up? thanks

heres the thing, i got a pretty good amount of muscle on me. i know how to tone my arms, chest and all that stuff but not to sure bout my legs. there not really fat or anything but i do have some fat there and i was wanting to know the best way to tone them. for my legs i do several workouts but my main one is squats. only problem is that i don't want them to get my legs bigger, just tone. i also bycycle for 30 mins (stationary bike) will that tone good or no? thanks for any info

i know its an old question and most people will say "well, we can't tell you whats good for you" but i made that as the titel so everybody gets the jist of what i'm asking, i've been looking around for a martial arts and on a thread i just wrote some one said that kung for is mainly your punching and kicking. not alot of grappling. thats what i'm looking for, i want a martial art that you actually fight and focuses mainly on punches and kicks. i've also heard that there are different types of kung fu, what do you think a good type would be for me? thanks

i would suggest anything with striking. make sure you get a good teacher though, thats the main thing. this dude i know just put his kids in it (9 and 7) and they are bratty as anything and now they just run around going "chop chop"........obviously the teacher doesn't teach them disicplin. but, i would suggest striking. screw locks and stuff like that, they usually only solve the probem then. you get your kid to kick the sh-- out of the other and they won't mess with him. heck, my dad started teaching me how to fight when i was in pre-school....so around 5 years old.

for speed, will useing weighted gloves help? cause i wear just normal gloves when i'm punching on my heavey bag and i took them off today once i punched for a while and just went to finish up with a quick combo and it felt like my hands were flying.
