Is kickboxing an actual martial art? I was looking around for information on it and all I saw was "cardio kickboxing" Can anyone enlighten me? -
Yeah this is my roomate actually folks lol I told him to get his butt on the forum because of all you cool people. He practices Tang Soo Do, hence the name in case no one caught on (play on words of pseudonym). Anyways, we go to the university of md and im doing the goju ryu karate thing and he is dabbling in aikido at the moment and we are both doing fencing which of course isnt a MA (i dont think). Hopefully we will check out Master Jules up in NY next month.

Just get rested and make sure you dont do anything stupid before your body heals itself. In the meantime, why not get your mental game up to speed. Read Tao of Jeet Kune Do or another 'principles' related martial art book. Go through kata in your head or set up scenarios to spar yourself with. Things I would do, hope you get well soon -

Of course you dont have anything to worry about! There is no point in worrying about the inevitable lol - just look around the place for any shiny objects before you get on the mat Have fun and let us know how it goes! -
Welcome to the forum as well as to Goju Ryu karate! I have just recently started Goju as well and I must say I love it. I for one am easy to get annoyed from not getting the moves down and I'm working on it. Tomorrow night is class. Enjoy!

If there is any way possible Jules you should DEFINITELY open up another dojo!!! My biggest regret is that I didnt stick with karate for those first few months because I got intimdated and upset with myself and performance as a beginner. But now...its on like popcorn!

THose four questions are written down now and posted on the door to my room. THANKS AnonymousOne...wow that was pretty profound and applicable. If this is something I really want to do, why be wishy washy about it. Above and beyond whats expected is where satisfaction truely lies.

Woohooo! Our karate club on campus is getting an extra day to conduct practices in one of the gyms! This is great especially because I wanted to get back into the MA with full force so bad! Just thought I'd share...we now practice 4 times a week, is that too little?

Maybe the shower would be good because of the sounds of water would make it even more difficult with your eyes closed

I havent been in the MA long enough for things to become automatic for me yet but I'm sure the other great people here will be able to shed some light.

Hey folks, I guess I never formerly introduced myself but I'm here and lovin the forum and the people in it. Studying Okinawan Goju Ryu in Maryland, pretty much just started back after a long delay. Master Jules made sure I didnt stay in that slump for long lol

Hey everyone, I thought I would ask a question about heavy bags and where to use them. I'm currently a college senior living in a basement room with some roomates in a house. There is a room next to mine that is fairly vacant, although it is the boiler room with some extra space. The roofing in the room is wooden though. What could I use instead of a heavy bag if this cannot be put up? I wanted something that I could train on. Any suggestions? Thanks

You've been encouraged as well as myself Kurazaki! These people ARE really great. Lets keep working hard to achieve our goals
