  1. Not Wakizashi's
  2. Thanks, I also found a usefull Goju-Ryu site, https://www.goju.com
  3. Test fees? Thats stupid.
  4. I'll have to get that.
  5. lol, as long as you stick to trying to remain flexible, even into your elder years, you can still pertain to splits. Unless you slack off once you get older.
  6. Consider that a kick to the head in olympic sparring is two points, compared to the body hit, one. You cannot punch to the head in olypic style either. Learn the rules to the olympic games, and then you'll see that they're not as bad as you may see them to be.
  7. Same with me, and I am even smaller than you are. Except for my legs, they're short.
  8. Exactly, be very skeptical, talk to your instructor.
  9. I prefer to wear traditional flip flops, so thats not going to restrict me, easy to remove, easy to put back on.
  10. Thank you for the agreement.
  11. I'm just looking for information on different Karate styles.
  12. I am speaking of things you can strike with, I wish to see you strike with the mind, when you are not verbally abusing your target.
  13. I am very interested in Karate, but am unaware of the comparative Karate Styles. I was wondering, if someone could be a help and list some of the more common, bigger styles and forms of Karate and what they incorporate over the others. Thanks for your time, remember, always have a nice day and carry the arts with you always.
  14. Do you think that counting such things as hyung, kicks, punches, and ect... should be counted in Korean or English. I, myself, depending on the day and mood I am, sometimes switch it up. Like count one thing in english, another in korean, just to keep the kids on thier toes.
  15. go larger, I prefer a size 4, and I am 5'6'' and weigh 124lbs. Well, size three pants, size 4 top because, traditionally, you are supposed to wear the uniform when its roomy, loose, confortable. Plus, you look better when it is just a bit bigger, not too big though.
  16. A very usefull site that is.
  17. Actually, books can teach you somthing instructors can't. Also, if you have the inituative to pick up a Martial Arts book and continue your learning in another place other than the dojang, you are doing well, and learning somthing very usefull there, somthing you won't gain in the dojang, the indomidable spirit.
  18. Same here, I believe in the old 'Subak' saying. White is inocense. So, inosence can be compared with the lack of knowledge a beginner student has in the martial art.
  19. There is only one ultimatly versitile weapon. That is your own body.
  20. I'd like to learn tonfa, but the only way I would be able to learn any weapon would be way of self taught, through videos and books, and I don't think that's a good idea.
  21. I was wondering the pros and cons of Escrima sticks and the training, could anyone explain?
  22. Yes, injury is a problem. I am a blue belt, but my instructor has given me permission to start my red-belt training because I am past due on my red belt test. I have seen men and women that have fulfilled splits using the isometrics. The only problem you would have with isometrics is if you have weak knees, so I am going to strengthen my knees before I continue them.
  23. Worry more about your technique before you go to competitions. Before you actually compete in a competition, go and watch the people in your division, if it is local, they are probably some of the people you will be going against in upcoming events, depending on how fast they go up in rank.
  24. That would have been awesome to see. Steven Lopez is a great martial artist.
  25. 2 years and already at purple, sounds fishy. Sounds more like a giveaway belt system. Is it a large or smaller school?
