  1. Hello, Welcome to Karate Forums !
  2. Thanks Dijita, it is confusing to me because if the fresh fighters are trying to go for really hard blow that may wind, hurt, or cause the person testing to lose the will to fight then I would think the person testing would want to eleminate this fighter as quickly as possible (before three minutes), but then I need to watch this type of test in person to grasp a better understanding. Thanks again Dijita!
  3. Is the girl that wants to fight your friend a fellow student ? Aslo, if she (your friend) is not a serious martial artist, why does she go to training ? and a higher rank ?
  4. I like all styles and what ever their purpose if you give enough of yourself they will provide you with something.......and something can help.
  5. I see what your getting at, and as I think about it I can't help but stick to my first thought, I do not want to tangle with anyone. One thing that crossed my mind is a list of all the MA's that you (we) never hear about, but they are in our local communities. Each of us in our time have a chance to be apart of these people and it would be no suprise to me if some of the people that post here are some of these silent champions. Walk in peace......
  6. I fell 60ft. off a cliff freeclimbing (no ropes) and fractured my back in two places.
  7. Hello YukiNeko, Welcome to Karate Forums !
  8. I was born in the Year of the Snake with Wood element.
  9. I have two cats; Boots and Missy. Boots has to supervise anything that happens at my home. Missy sleeps.....alot!
  10. Hello, Welcome to Karate Forums!
  11. Are you in a branch of service Benjamin ?
  12. Dijita, that is an awsome test ! While fighting these fresh fighters, do you try to knock them out ? or disable them so they can no longer continue ?
  13. Thanks for the heads-up Kicks, my cable company is a mess.
  14. Apart from martial arts ?.......uh O I was a terrible reader when I was young but after some very good books I love to read. I enjoy cooking, fishing, building plastic models, gardening, photography, camping, strategy PC games, learning new to me things! Adventures, creating with style (my own) and more ......
  15. 3 pairs of Nunchaku (oak, pine) 1 oak Dao (broadsword) 1 oak Boken 1 oak Tanto 1 pair of Buterfly Knifes
  16. I have sparred foam, I liked the padding at first, but they split, fell apart after a few months of use. (usually 3 times a week by adult size practitioners)
  17. Thank you Shorin Ryuu, I am learning many things here at Karate Forums and expressing my thoughts are one of them. I'm trying to better understand TCC. I'm looking now for the Chinese five element philosophy to read and draw from it to help my TCC. I've posted here to see if any of it's members allready have an understanding and can help me with mine. As with most styles there are basic rules, laws, important points to learning it. TCC footwork might be stepping into a ward-off position, or shifting weight backwards to play the fiddle. While I have memorized these movements and study it's laws, I would think understanding the philosophy would help. I'm guessing that I will end somewhere around Feng Shui.
  18. I do not know of any, but give it some more time, I'm sure someone will provide the videos!
  19. Welcome to Karate Forums ! I have never heard of PTT until you wrote it and the site Mu Ryuk posted. All I can suggest as with anything you (we) desire, research, ask questions, and listen to your gut. Good luck!
  20. Hi all, as I train, practice, and study TCC (Yang Style) I as many of you am always learning or trying. I came across something, Song Yuan-Qiao (a tai chi student of Zhang San-Feng) wrote a famous tai chi essay, called "Song's Tai Chi Kung." According to Song Yuan-Qiao the footwork was designed around the Chinese five elements philosophy-metal,wood,soil,water,and fire. So, now I research and KF has helped me in other quests. My question is to those who can, what is your knowledge of this philosophy in respect of footwork?
  21. I agree with going to class, you will enjoy learning, what I call a staff. In my style we use lengths of 7,8,9, feet staffs made from white wax wood, very flexible and tough, but are not confined to only this type of staff (General staff training.)
  22. I agree with Karateka_latino in that you should trust your master's opinion. IMO maybe a higher rank is given so you by your own mind begin to think differently about where your at, what your doing, and change inwardly. You are beginning to notice your strengths and weaknesses. I don't think it should be a question if you are prepared to hold a blue belt, but what is your definition of a blue belt rank and are you honestly knowledgable and confident with the rank you do have that lower ranks will work hard enough to get to that level using you as an example. I also think it's great that your thinking about it !! Keep up the good work !!
