  1. Congratulations! You’ve just found out that blocks are not just blocks. I teach, think of blocks as attacks.

Oh and maybe your friend won’t fool around like that anymore. And maybe he will respect your training.

My teacher teaches the same thing and this kid just learned a leason too.

May you friend has also learned from this .

  2. Finally someone sees Liddell's abilities outside his superb stiking.Chuck said in an interveiw before his last fight with Couture he had started training his grappling even more. Also Couture had a time holding Liddell down in their first fight until he got mounted. But I personally don't think Liddell has even shown a twiklin of his ground game.So yes I think he's underrated.

  3. The first beating I took was in the first dojo I trained in it came by way of the Sensie during a belt test. After picking my bloody and bruised body up off the deck he welcomed me to upper belt fighting. The most recent beating was when I sparred with a retire kickboxer who held a world title.talk about hurting the next morning.

  4. At the dojo were I train we have a very relaxed promotion everyone will crack jokes or cheer the others on to help with the nerves.I like a relaxed test helps you focus more without putting additional pressure on your self. But at the same time we take the tests seriously.

  5. congrats to you guys that have recently obtained new rank.Feels good to get rewarded for all your hard work doesn't it.Keep up the good work and train hard. And hopefully I can do well on my test tomarrow night

  6. Watch him during his matches and see if he has a set pattern of techquie he uses. Most people who do alot of piont sparring find things that work for them and stick to it.

  7. Take the plung. If everyone in the class are true marial artist they'll not think you look stupid because they will remember they had to start somewhere too.So don't worry what others may think you can't start everything in life having a knowledge of it.Enjoy your training.

  8. Congrats on your tourny. But as far as the briken rib goes I know all too well.I broke my sternum and three ribs wrestling in highschool and last week I broke at least three more ribs sparring. The only way I know to get over the fear of getting hit in the side which you broke the ribs is fight like normal.I'm going to have totake my own advice when I get to return to class. The old saying if you fall off the horse get right back on and ride it comes to mind or you will never over come the fear of reinjury.

  9. I agree with those who said to be mature enough to let a test pass you by if you don't feel ready.I know child do not understand this. When I first started training in Shorin Ryu as a teenager I had so much pressure to promote quickly because my brother also trained there.I believe that had alot to do with me failing a promotion. The most recent time I began to train in Ryu Kyu Kenpo I had no interest in obtaining belts and still don't but my instructor insists that all student wear their current rank.Senei says one should be proud of their rank and that I am.I have learned in the eight years I took off training that I just want to learn. If I promote so be it and if I do not so be it but I will train harder than before to correct my faults.Belt just hold up you pants.

I just say to those of us that have failed a test and over come the disappointment and contiued to train.Congratulations we have learned from that and failure is part of all parts of life and we learned from it.
