Punching from the waist..
tekkenchaos replied to koreantiger81's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
When punching from the waist, ur coverhand and ur punch act like a pully. More power comes from it...Also the coverhand coming back to your waist acts as an elbow to an enemy attacking from behind. It also works your arms a LOT ) -
We also do a free-for all game...It's called Samuri--you're not allowed to use hands, just feet....if you're kicked in the head, you're out and if you're kicked to the body you lose a blocking arm..if you're kicked to the body 3 times (after both your arms cannot be used anymore), you're out too...last person standing wins! it's also interesting to play this game when you put bags out that act as mines..if you touch it-you're out! )

tekkenchaos replied to Joecooke007's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I changed my mind..my favorite kicks are spin hook kick, butterfly kick and back leg front kick ) -
When I was a yellow belt, I tried to do a flying side kick into a heavy bag and I landed on my ankle ...it doesn't sound too bad but my point is, what injuries have you had from doing tkd (or any martial art)??

wow monkeygirl! you were so strong..you must like tkd a lot to go back to sparring after an incident like that -
Just a question...
tekkenchaos replied to tekkenchaos's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Thanks -
Ok, question: If you were sparring and got punched in the nose and it bled, would you blame your opponent (was that spelled right?) for having bad control, or would you blame yourself for not blocking fast enough? I'm just curious ) Thank you!!

My tkd teacher is a friendly coach, but he can be fickle and alternates with all you listed except for the "quiet master type"...it really depends on who he's teaching and how their behavior is---

should you be relaxed?
tekkenchaos replied to rabid hamster's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
YEAH! what everyone else said..just relax when you spar-mentally and physically..if your mind is focused, you'll most likely have better technique and accuracy (not to mention more speed) -
what type of poomse do you practice?
tekkenchaos replied to iamrushman's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts

what type of poomse do you practice?
tekkenchaos replied to iamrushman's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I don't know what style they use in my taekwondo studio for forms, but it includes Pinan 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, Fighting Forms 1 and 2 and Naehanji's, which are done in horse stances. Um... I've never been to a tournament before. -
black belts
tekkenchaos replied to tekkenchaos's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Thanks Hwa-rang (hey that's a character from tekken 3!). So to master an art is 10,000 days so that would be 27 or 28 years if you trained every day. Wow, I'm not even half those years. Thanks to Gor too. -
What happened last night in Taekwondo
tekkenchaos replied to Jack's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I've always said: tae kwon do is the way of hand and foot; not the way of over excessive punishment. And that's all i have to say about that. [ This Message was edited by: tekkenchaos on 2002-01-12 09:53 ] -
black belts
tekkenchaos replied to tekkenchaos's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Thanks everyone for your posts!!! Sorry if it seemed like I didn't like my tae kwon do studio, because I do. Hey Joecooke007, i know what you mean. I know this girl who got her black belt in karate in 7 years. And Gorgoth, whoa... your tkd school must be really tough if they make you guys stay in a horse stance for a whole hour. That would take up a whole taekwondo class where I go to. Usually, we only stay 5 minutes in a horse stance. Keep on posting all! -
Niagie, Nae Han Ji
tekkenchaos replied to SaiFightsMS's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
My tae kwon do school does nae han ji's! At least, I'm pretty sure because the instructors pronounce it quickly and it sounds like nahnji. I a long way from learning them since I'm a begginer but at my school, the students learn nae han ji's at red belt. Aren't they the forms where you have to stay in a horse stance the whole time? Are you also learning the fighting forms? I'm going to stop typing now so have a nice day!!! -
favorite kick
tekkenchaos replied to Joecooke007's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
What's the tornado kick? My friend said that was her favorite kick but she doesn't do tae kwon do anymore so I've only seen it once and forgot how it goes. -
Dude!!! Your workout schedule is so organized, and you're only a year older than me! What I mean is, it would be a sort of miracle for me to do that, because mine kind of goes like this: watch TV, during commercial break, do two forms; while waiting for internet connection, do 10 kicks; do sit-ups after i'm done using the internet.....or along those lines. Maybe one day I'll be able to do that. Happy new year!!

tekkenchaos replied to Joecooke007's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Hi my favorite kicks to do into a bag are flying front kicks and back-leg round kicks. And you can't beat kicking the air with side kicks and front kicks. By the way, you never mentioned your favorite kicks. Anyways.... happy new year!!!
